  • Publication number: 20140363018
Abstract: Practical speaker connection is identified using a device having a sound channel of a 5.1 channel or 7.1 channel, and a device is provided that can easily reproduce the optimum multiple channels. Actual speaker arrangement can be identified by, for example, measuring the impedance of a terminal at the side of an audio amplifier. If incorrect connection is found, a warning is issued. This information is transmitted to a signal source with an EDID and a signal with the optimum a number of sound channel is sent. The EDID is also used for the connection with a display unit and the speaker connection with which the display unit is provided uniquely. For example, a sound through the 7.1 channel is easily reproduced using the speaker of the display unit in the channel of the front speaker.

  • Publication number: 20140327833
Abstract: In a system in which an image signal is transmitted from a source device to a sink device and the sink device (or source device) supplies power to the source device (or sink device), power saving of standby power supplied by the sink device (or source device) is realized. There is a feature that a sink device or a source device detects connection with the other device, starts the supply of standby power, confirms that the standby power does not flow or confirms that message exchange with the other device is possible even if the standby power is temporarily stopped, and stops the supply of the standby power.

  • Publication number: 20140293068
Abstract: According to our invention, linked operation between a monitor apparatus for displaying images, and a set-top box for transmitting image signals to the monitor apparatus via a required interface, can be achieved properly, even if both units are constructed in casings separate from each other. The monitor apparatus uses a CEC line to transmit a CEC vendor command including at least a code associated with unit information, and the set-top box apparatus transmits the CEC vendor command including at least the code associated with the unit information. Upon receiving the vendor command from the set-top box apparatus, the monitor apparatus switches to the linked operation with the set-top box.

  • Publication number: 20140232939
Abstract: Provided is a system for supplying a power from a sink device to a source device. Not only the source device but also a cable or a repeater device to be connected thereto has compatibility in power supply. A physical address obtained from information of an EDID memory forms a base of CEC message exchange, but a physical address of the cable or repeater device is overlapped with the source device or unknown. The cable or a repeater device uses changes the type of a message while using the same physical address as the source device or use such a message having the physical address information of the source device is described in a parameter of the message using the unknown physical address. The message having a supply or reception current for each device described therein is exchanged with the sink device or the source device to adjust current reception.

  • Publication number: 20140205263
Abstract: The present invention is intended to permit both real-time display of a picture represented by a non-compressed video signal on a television and display of a picture represented by a compressed video signal at any desired time by simultaneously transmitting the compressed video signal and non-compressed video signal via one interface. An STB packetizes a compressed video signal, and multiplexes the compressed video signal and a blanking signal combined with a non-compressed video signal. Thus, both the video signals are transmitted simultaneously. A picture represented by the non-compressed video signal is displayed on a television in real time. The compressed video signal is stored in a storage medium incorporated in the television, read at any user's desired time, and decoded so that a picture represented by the compressed video signal can be viewed at the user's desired time.

  • Publication number: 20140177735
Abstract: An image transmission device compresses and transmits image data to be sent and cannot correct errors occurring on the transmission path when image data to be transmitted is larger than a currently prescribed image size. In an image receiving device which receives compressed image data, data to be inputted is inputted by switching between first periods, during which the amount of data transmitted per prescribed time interval is a first data transmission amount, and second periods, during which the amount of data transmitted per prescribed time interval is less than the first data transmission amount. Compressed image data is inputted during the first periods, and error correction codes are inputted during the second periods, and a control unit expands the output of an error detection unit by means of an expansion unit and outputs the same.

  • Patent number: 8760512
Abstract: A technique is provided for using, in a wireless video transmission device and a plurality of wireless video reception devices which intermittently perform signal reception processing within standby periods, a human body detection unit to accelerate the start-up of the wireless video transmission and reception devices. When the presence of a person is detected by the human body detector, a person detection signal is sent to a wireless video reception device or the transmission device to thereby limit usable communication channel candidates in number. The limited number of usable channel candidates are then used to perform intermittent signal reception, thereby shortening the searching time cycle of such intermittent reception within a standby period, thus lessening the startup time from the standby state between the wireless video transmission and reception devices and also reducing standby power thereof.

  • Patent number: 8732769
Abstract: A technique is offered which is applied to a system for wirelessly sending and receiving control commands and which permits mutual communications owing to the control commands between a wireless video transmitter and wireless video receivers to be operated stably with low delay. The transmitter makes a decision as to whether commands received from the receivers are certain commands. If so, the transmitter assigns transmissible periods, in which the receivers can send commands, more preferentially to the wireless video receiver that has sent out the certain commands than the other wireless video receivers.
