  • Patent number: 6566765
Abstract: The restraint system is composed of a central control unit, which is connected via a bus line to a plurality of data processing units each of which is intended to drive one or more restraint devices. To keep the restraint system operational if the power supply in the central control unit becomes defective, a changeover to the vehicle battery voltage as the new supply voltage is effected in the central control unit. The central control unit then signals the changeover to the new supply voltage to all the data processing units. All the data processing units thereupon adjust their circuits to the new supply-voltage level.

  • Patent number: 6477457
Abstract: Information data and energy are transmitted from a central control to control modules through a bus system in an occupant protection system including occupant protection devices such as airbags. In order to avoid overloading the protection system due to an immediate recharging of an energy storage member after that member triggers an occupant protection device, such recharging is suppressed or interrupted, preferably until a reset command signal is received by the respective control module from the central control.

  • Patent number: 6456915
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating an occupant safety device and a control unit for performing the method. To limit the power supplied to a triggering means from a storage element, the electrical power supplied after operating each triggering means is measured and after a definable power limiting value has been reached the power supplied to the triggering means is interrupted. The known methods based on the voltage at the storage element being the measure of the power supplied prove to be highly prone to error because these depend firstly on the charged state of the storage element and secondly very much on the conductor resistance so that incorrect control action can result.

  • Patent number: 6223904
Abstract: Continuous recovery of raw materials from coated films and apparatus for this purpose and film material recovered therewith. Large amounts of coated films can be fed to a continuous recycling process in which any pigments present in the coating and the substrate material are recovered. The treatment is carried out at room temperature in an alkaline medium consisting of soft soap, organic solvent and/or water, with or without the use of a catalyst. The solvent is recycled. After the first treatment stage, the film shreds can be treated in a second stage with a solvent/water mixture similarly to the first stage, and thorough final washing in a water or solvent circulation is effected in a third stage. The recovered film shreds are dried, pressed, milled and brought to the desired shape in a plastics agglomerator, and the recovered pigments are dried under reduced pressure (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 6204570
Abstract: A number (n) of keys is assigned to an anti-theft system. In order to initialize the anti-theft system, at least the number minus one (n−1) keys must be present so that new coding data can be formed using the previous coding data. During the initialization, the number of all the authorized keys is written into each key. If the vehicle is stolen, the insurer of the vehicle can thus compare the number of authorized keys with the keys that are actually submitted.

  • Patent number: 5969631
Abstract: In a method and system for transmitting digital data, a data acceptance clock signal generator that has a controllable clock frequency in a peripheral module is correspondingly adapted to clock frequency information derived from a synchronization pulse train transmitted by a central unit. The same oscillator is used as a frequency source for determining the clock frequency information and for generating the data acceptance clock pulse. In this manner, simple RC oscillators are adequate to fulfill any requirements of long time accuracy of the oscillator. The clock frequency can be changed in that the central unit simply transmits altered clock frequency information. It is also possible to carry out an adjustment or adaptation in the case of deviations of the oscillator frequency in the peripheral unit.

  • Patent number: 5383086
Abstract: In a system for triggering an inductive consumer, particularly a consumer for controlling an internal combustion engine, the consumer is coupled via a circuit element to a voltage source. A control means triggers the circuit element in the switching mode for a preselected ON duration. Furthermore, means are provided for measuring the current flowing through the inductive consumer. To measure an actual current value, a first current value is measured shortly after the closing operation, and a second current value is measured immediately before the opening operation.
