  • Publication number: 20070239414
Abstract: The method provides a new fluid simulation technique that significantly reduces the non-physical dissipation of velocity using particles and derivative information. In solving the conventional Navier-Stokes equations, the method replace the advection part with a particle simulation. When swapping between the grid-based and particle-based simulators, the physical quantities such as the level set and velocity must be converted. A novel dissipation-suppressing conversion procedure that utilizes the derivative information stored in the particles as well as in the grid points is developed. Through several experiments, the proposed technique can reproduce the detailed movements of high-Reynolds-number fluids, such as droplets/bubbles, thin water sheets, and whirlpools. The increased accuracy in the advection, which forms the basis of the proposed technique, can also be used to produce better results in larger scale fluid simulations.

  • Publication number: 20070043544
Abstract: A method for graphically simulating stable but non-dissipative water in real-time includes steps for modeling multiphase materials with grid of nodes, suppressing numerical dissipation for getting rid of loss of mass of material, and suppressing numerical diffusion for reducing dampening of the fluid motion of materials in liquid phase. The step of modeling multiphase materials includes steps of describing liquid and gas with a set of nonlinear partial differential equations, representing the liquid-gas interface as an implicit surface, and determining properties of the materials, from the information about the liquid-gas interface, including the surface curvature and the surface tension. The set of nonlinear partial differential equations includes multiphase incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The step of representing the liquid-gas interface includes a level set method.

  • Publication number: 20050287745
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a semiconductor device includes defining a first voltage region, a second voltage region, and a third voltage region on a substrate. The first, second, and third voltage regions are configured to handle first, second, and third voltage levels, respectively, that are different from each other. A nitride layer overlying the first, second, and third voltage regions are formed. An oxide layer overlying the nitride layer is formed. The oxide layer is patterned to expose a portion of the nitride layer overlying the first voltage region. The exposed portion of the nitride layer is removed using a wet etch process. A first gate oxide layer overlying the first voltage region is formed. Portions of the oxide layer and the nitride layer overlying the second and third voltage regions are removed. Impurities are selectively implanted into the third voltage region while preventing the impurities from being provided in the second voltage region.

  • Patent number: 6712886
Abstract: An air purification device has an oxygen-supplying function, in which air in an automobile is sucked by a vacuum pump and purified by a dust collector or an adsorbent such as activated carbon and zeolite, and oxygen is enriched in air to supply oxygen enriched air into the automobile. The air purification device enriches oxygen in air according to a VSA (vacuum swing adsorption) process using a difference between pressure in the adsorption bed and atmospheric pressure, in which nitrogen adsorbed into the adsorbent is release using the vacuum pump. The air purification device has an air filter for removing impurities from air sucked from an inside of the automobile by the vacuum pump, an adsorbent for adsorbing nitrogen from air passing through the air filter and passing oxygen, and an oxygen tank for storing oxygen supplied from the adsorbent and releasing oxygen using a vacuum.

  • Patent number: 6455192
Abstract: A battery case for enclosing and hermetically sealing a battery body which generates current. The case includes a first polyethylene terephthalate layer, which is an innermost layer with respect to a battery body, which is adhered to another part of the same layer when sealing the battery body, a polymer layer on the first polyethylene terephthalate layer, a second polyethylene terephthalate layer on the polymer layer, and a polypropylene layer, which is an outermost layer with respect to the battery body, on the second polyethylene terephthalate layer. Therefore, short circuits generated during adhesion between edges of upper and lower portions of the case can be prevented, improving the case sealing process. Also, the deterioration of battery performance, due to a micro short circuit occurring during the sealing of the case, can be avoided. Further, the case sealing process can be safely performed, irrespective of conditions of thermal fusion such as temperature, pressure, and time.
