  • Publication number: 20200052890
Abstract: Described is a system for anonymous job allocation and majority voting in a cloud computing environment. The system broadcasts a job to physical nodes, each of the physical nodes having a control operations plane (COP) node and one or more service nodes associated with the COP node. A set of redundant job assignments is distributed to individual COP nodes pursuant to a private job assignment schedule, such that each individual COP node is only aware of its own assignment and corresponding job. The service nodes execute the job assigned to the COP nodes such that the service nodes each complete a task associated with the job and forward an individual result to their associated COP node. A privacy-preserving result checking protocol is performed amongst the COP nodes such that secret shares of a majority result are obtained and the majority result is provided to a client.

  • Publication number: 20200050262
Abstract: A system and/or method that uses a body posture of a user to determine and modulate a content mode of a virtual reality system. The content mode may define the manner in which virtual reality content is presented to the user and/or the manner in which the user interacts with the virtual reality content. The user's body posture and/or a change in body posture may cause the content mode and/or the virtual reality content to change accordingly. In some implementations, primary content may be presented to the user according to a first content mode in response to the user sitting. Secondary virtual reality content may be presented to the user according to the second content mode in response to the user standing. As such, a user may initiate a change in the virtual reality content and/or the content mode by standing from a sitting posture and/or sitting from a standing posture.

  • Publication number: 20200049050
Abstract: A method for the exhaust gas aftertreatment of a combustion engine having an exhaust system in which at least three catalytic converters and at least three lambda probes are disposed. Downstream of a first catalytic converter, an actively heatable catalytic converter is provided, which is actively heated at a start of the combustion engine. The lambda control of the combustion engine is carried out in each case by that lambda probe disposed downstream of the respective last catalytic converter to reach the light-off temperature thereof. Also, an exhaust gas aftertreatment system for implementing such a method.

  • Publication number: 20200037578
Abstract: The present invention features a method and apparatus for enriching the environment of an animal. The apparatus presents a stimulus to an animal, and the animal may input the correct response to the stimulus into an interface. Upon a correct response the apparatus delivers a treat, indication, or combination thereof to the animal. The apparatus may increase the complexity of the stimulus with each correct response. The apparatus may also be connected to social media to track and compare the results of the animal's actions with other animals.

  • Publication number: 20200040784
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the exhaust aftertreatment of an internal combustion engine, which on the outlet side is connected to an exhaust gas system. Provided in the exhaust gas system is at least one exhaust aftertreatment component with which, upon reaching the light-off temperature of this exhaust aftertreatment component, the gaseous limited exhaust gas components may be converted into unlimited exhaust gas components. An introduction point is provided at an exhaust duct of the exhaust gas system, at which a hot gas, in particular an exhaust gas of an exhaust gas burner, is introduced into the exhaust duct. The hot gas mixes with the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine in such a way that a hot mixed gas results in which the unburned exhaust gas components are oxidized to unlimited exhaust gas components, without a catalytically active surface.

  • Patent number: 10554671
Abstract: An internet service provider (ISP) is configured to analyze a subscriber's sent e-mail packets to determine a subscriber identity associated with the e-mail packets. A database is then queried to determine a current sending rate of e-mails by the subscriber. A sending rate above an allowed threshold causes the upstream transmission of the e-mail packets to be blocked by injecting connection destroying packets. A subscriber remains blocked from upstream transmission of e-mails until the sending rate as determined by the ISP drops below a second, more stringent threshold. This automatic process is also accompanied by automated messaging to the subscriber with information as to the measures taken and remedial options.

  • Publication number: 20200022436
Abstract: An article of apparel is disclosed that includes zones with a textile having a structure than changes or is otherwise modified by a physical stimulus, such as the presence of water or a temperature change, to modify a property of the textile. The zones may be along a center back area and/or side areas of the apparel, and the textile may increase in air permeability when exposed to water. In some embodiments, slits are formed in the textile.

  • Publication number: 20200029147
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a headphone or an earpiece that includes a cushion that advantageously allows for improved comfort, sound quality, and stability in the ear. The cushion includes an inner cavity, an ear-canal aperture and a tip portion, wherein the inner cavity of the cushion accommodates a nozzle portion of a housing within the cavity, and the axis of the inner cavity is substantially parallel to the first axis, wherein the ear-canal aperture opens toward the ear canal of the user's ear when the headphone or the earpiece is worn by the user, and wherein the tip portion engages the concha of the user's ear when the headphone or the earpiece is worn by the user, and the axis of the tip portion is not parallel to the first axis. The headphone or the earpiece includes dual acoustic elements to amplify sounds in different frequency ranges.

  • Publication number: 20200029324
Abstract: The present invention provides a new trigger frame dedicated to NDP feedback procedure. This NDP feedback trigger frame comprises a specific field allowing stations (non-AP nodes) receiving this trigger frame to identify it as being a dedicated NDP feedback trigger frame. Thanks to this specific field, a receiving station knows that a NDP feedback procedure has started and that a NDP feedback is expected by the access point. The present invention also provides for communication methods using this NDP feedback trigger frame, communication device station and access point configured to implement these methods, and also a wireless communication network comprising such devices.

  • Publication number: 20200015862
Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing the risk of PJK, PJF, and other conditions are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a longitudinal extension can be added to a primary fixation construct to extend the construct to one or more additional vertebral levels. The extension can be attached to a first attachment point, such as a bone anchor implanted in a vertebra that is superior to the primary construct. The extension can also be attached to a second attachment point, such as a component of the primary construct or an anatomical structure disposed inferior to the first attachment point. The extension can be more flexible than the primary construct and/or can limit motion to a lesser degree than the primary construct, thereby providing a more-gradual transition from the instrumented vertebrae to the natural patient anatomy adjacent thereto. The extension can be placed with little or no soft tissue disruption.

  • Publication number: 20200018837
Abstract: Laser light pulses of at least two different wavelengths are reflected off a scanning mirror. A first time-of-flight distance measurement circuit receives reflected light pulses of a first wavelength and determines distances. A second time-of-flight distance measurement circuit receives reflected light pulses of a second wavelength and determines distances. The timing of transmission of laser light pulses of differing wavelengths are adjusted, and the data buffering of converted return pulses are adjusted, to compensate for laser light source misalignment.
