  • Patent number: 4335193
Abstract: This invention is directed to a microporous film comprising a 40 to 90 volume percent polyolefin having a number average molecular weight of 15,000 or more and a weight average molecular weight of less than 300,000 and a 10 to 60 volume percent inorganic filler and having a void space rate or porosity of 30 to 75 volume percent based on the volume of the film. The microporous film of such specific composition and structure has a desired wettability and a much reduced electrical resistance. Said resistance being as low as 0.0006 .OMEGA.dm.sup.2 /sheet. Said film has sufficient flexibility and mechanical strength to make it useful in wide variety of applications, especially as separators in batteries or electrolytical apparatuses etc.

  • Patent number: 4331622
Abstract: A microporous film which comprises a matrix comprising 40 to 90 volume percent of a polyolefin having a number average molecular weight of 15,000 or more and 10 to 60 volume percent of an inorganic filler, said matrix having therein void spaces at a rate of 30 to 75 volume percent based on the volume of the film; and 2 to 20 weight percent, based on the total weight of the polyolefin and the inorganic filler, of an organic substance which is substantially insoluble in and inert to sulfuric acid and has a solubility parameter ranging from 7.3 inclusive to 8.4 exclusive; said organic substance, in its majority, adhering to the overall surface of the film including the outer surfaces of the film and the surfaces of the polyolefin walls defining said void spaces in cooperation with said inorganic filler.

  • Patent number: 4266043
Abstract: A resilient hydrophobic foamed polymer obtained by reacting a mixture of an isocyanate terminated urethane prepolymer and a polyisocyanate (A) with aqueous material, said prepolymer being relatively hydrophilic and the reaction product of a molar excess of a polyisocyanate (B) with a polyetherpolyol having from 15 to 50% by weight of oxethylene content, said aqueous material having a water content between about 15 to 150% by weight based on said prepolymer, the amount of said polyisocyanate (A) ranging between about 5 to 15% by weight based on said prepolymer, said polyetherpolyol being selected from the group consisting of (a) the addition polymerization product of a starting material, ethylene oxide and another epoxide and (b) a mixture of at least two of the following:(1) The addition polymerization product of a starting material and ethylene oxide;(2) the addition polymerization product of a starting material and an epoxide other than ethylene oxide;(3) the addition polymerization material, ethylene oxide

  • Patent number: 4223152
Abstract: Isoindolinone pigments of an extremely high purity, which are represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R represents a carbocyclic bridge member such as:an unsubstituted phenylene or diphenylene group,a phenylene or diphenylene group substituted by chlorine atoms, methyl groups or methoxy groups, ora group expressed by the formula ##STR2## where X is oxygen or a methylene group; or R represents a heterocyclic bridge member such as: a pyridylene group; orR represents a direct bond, are prepared by a process wherein a crude isoindolinone pigment is dispersed in an aromatic hydrocarbon; (a) an alcoholate or hydroxide of an alkali metal and (b) a lower alcohol and/or water are incorporated in the crude isoindolinone pigment dispersion thereby forming an alkali metal salt of the isoindolinone pigment; and then, the so formed pigment salt is contacted with an acid thereby hydrolyzing the pigment salt into the free acid form.

  • Patent number: 3933697
Abstract: An antistatic polyurethane foam contains quaternary ammonium salt as an antistatic agent. The quaternary ammonium salt is added either to a raw material for polyurethane foam or to a prepared polyurethane foam by causing the foam to be impregnated with a solution containing the quaternary ammonium salt and drying it.
