  • Patent number: 6313886
Abstract: Described are methods and apparatuses for tuning television channels that transmit either PSIP Transport Streams or non-PSIP Transport Streams. Specifically, PSIP Transport Streams contain PSIP sections that include a major channel number and minor channel numbers, whereas non-PSIP Transport Streams do not contain such PSIP sections. However, both PSIP and non-PSIP Transport Streams contain PAT sections. Upon receiving a PSIP Transport Stream from a television channel, the present methods and apparatuses directly obtain the major channel number and minor channel numbers from the PSIP section contained in the PSIP Transport Stream. Upon receiving a non-PSIP Transport Stream from a television channel, the present methods and apparatuses form the major channel number and minor channel numbers based on the information contained in the PAT sections. In so doing, the methods and apparatuses can process both PSIP and non-PSIP Transport Streams.

  • Publication number: 20010013856
Abstract: A video display apparatus comprising a video display device for visually presenting a video image thereon; a light source turned on by discharge and displaying the video image, which is being presented visually on the video display device, on a screen by irradiation of light; and a system controller for putting out the light source after a lapse of a predetermined delay time from input of a command to switch off a power source. There is also provided a method of preventing inadvertent switch-off of the light source in such a video display apparatus. Even if the power source is switched off inadvertently, the light source is not put out at once and the video image can still be displayed continuously thereon by switching on a power key immediately within the predetermined delay time.

  • Patent number: 6213792
Abstract: A fitting structure for connectors includes a female connector 30, a male connector 40 and a hood assembly 10. In assembling, an assembling port of the connector 30 is assembled to an opening 18 of the hood assembly 10. The engagement and disengagement between the male and female connectors 40, 30 can be accomplished by reciprocatively moving slide members 13, 13 in the hood assembly 10 while guide pins 44 are being retained in guide grooves 14 of the slide members 13, 13. Respective interior dimensions A, B, D defining the assembling port are respectively larger than respective interior dimensions a, b, d defining the opening 18 of the hood assembly 10, a step 38 is produced in a boundary area between the hood assembly 10 and the female connector 30. Without entering the female connector 30 into the hood assembly 10, it is possible to fit the male connector 40 to the female connector 30 certainly.

  • Patent number: 6180174
Abstract: The invention provides a process for producing a coated Cu alloy having a surface which has a low coefficient of friction and a high resistance to abrasion and is suitable for fabricating connectors, charging-sockets of electric automobiles etc. The coated Cu alloy is produced by coating the surface of a copper alloy with Sn and heat treating the coated Cu alloy at a temperature in the range of 100-450° C. for 0.5-24 hours. The Cu alloy which is coated with Sn consists of 1-41 wt % Zn with the balance being Cu and incidental impurities. By using the coated Cu alloy, the force of insertion, resistance to abrasion and resistance to corrosion of connectors can be significantly improved.

  • Patent number: 6056443
Abstract: A hard carbon film (15) is formed directly or through an intermediate layer for enhancing adhesion over an inner surface (11b) and over a portion (11h.sub.1) of an end face (11h) of a guide bush 11 adjacent to the end of the inner surface for holding a workpiece (51) rotatably and axially slidable on an automatic lathe at a position near a cutting tool, to be in sliding contact with the workpiece (51) or directly or through an intermediate layer for enhancing adhesion on the surface of a superhard lining fixed to the inner surface (11b) in a plasma CVD process employing an auxiliary electrode and a dummy member. Thereby, the guide bush (11) has remarkably enhanced durability and prevents seizing that makes a machining operation impossible, even when the guide bush (11) is used for an extended period of time and when the automatic lathe operates for heavy machining. Flaws caused by flashes on the workpiece are prevented from occurring on the inner surface of the guide bush (11).
