  • Patent number: 5297859
Abstract: A method of and a system for controlling brakes. A target slip ratio of each of wheels at the start of antilock control is estimated and a vehicle deceleration prior to the start of the anti-lock control is detected. The target slip ratio at the start of the antilock control is corrected based on the detected vehicle deceleration. Thus, vehicle controllability correlated to the vehicle deceleration can be prevented from being impaired. It is therefore possible to reliably improve the control performance of a vehicle and to effect the optimum brake control.

  • Patent number: 5257856
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of and a system for controlling brakes. In the brake control system, grounding loads on front and rear wheels are determined and a correction value for the braking of a predetermined wheel is computed based on the grounding loads thus determined. A braking force is determined inclusive of the computed correction value. A correction value for the braking of the front wheel is computed based on the determined grounding loads. Thus, the optimum brake control can be made without being affected by a variation in the distribution of the loads of the front and rear wheels relative to the ground.

  • Patent number: 5249848
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of and a system for controlling antilocking brakes employed in a vehicle such as a motorcycle. The position of an expander piston which constitutes an antilocking modulator is detected and the torque of a rotative drive source for actuating the expander piston is detected. A braking force used for each of the brakes is then computed from the detected position of the expander piston and the detected torque of the rotative drive source at the detected position. Further, friction coefficients of a road surface are estimated from the braking force thus computed and a target slip ratio is estimated from the estimated friction coefficients so as to carry out the optimum braking. Accordingly, the optimum target slip ratio can be estimated depending on high and low .mu. roads, thereby making it possible to provide satisfactory braking.

  • Patent number: 5229906
Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette in which protrusions made of low friction resin are formed on the inner walls of the upper and lower halves by a two-color molding method in such a manner that they are located in correspondence at least to the magnetic tape winding diameter so as to be in contact with the edges of the magnetic tape. The protrusions of low friction resin replace the friction sheets in the conventional magnetic tape cassette, whereby the number of components and the number of manufacturing steps are reduced, with the result that the manufacturing cost is also reduced.

  • Patent number: 4941760
Abstract: A rotor assembly consists of a rotor shaft having a shoulder, turbine wheel, inner ring of a ball bearing and spacer having an end face cooperating with the shoulder to clamp therebetween the inner ring. An aspect of the present invention resides in that a perpendicularity of the end face relative to a center axis of the spacer is equal to or smaller than 0.1% of an inner diameter of the spacer. A clearance is provided between the rotor shaft and the spacer so that the spacer is secured by press fitting to the rotor shaft only at the opposite end portions. Another aspect of the present invention resides in that the rotor assembly is constructed so as to satisfy at least one of the following two factors, i.e., (I) a volume of the clearance is equal to or smaller than 2% of that of an inner space of the spacer and (II) (D2-D1) is equal to or smaller than 2% of D1 where D1 is an outer diameter of the rotor shaft and D2 is an inner diameter of the spacer.

  • Patent number: 4941346
Abstract: A vibration-type rheometer comprises a vibration-type viscometer having a pair of vibrator subassemblies which resonate as in a tuning fork. The pair of vibrator subassemblies constituting a tuning fork vibrator each has at its free end a sensor plate formed from a thin metal plate places into a sample to be measured, and the vibrator subassemblies are driven at the same frequency but in opposite phase relationship to each other by an electromagnetic driving unit together with the sensor plates. A control unit supplies a time-varying driving current whose magnitude varies with time to the electromagnetic driving unit in order to change the vibration-applying force applied to the pair of vibrator subassemblies.
