  • Patent number: 8800371
Abstract: An electrostatic force generator is disclosed. The electrostatic force generator includes an RF AC voltage source, a capacitive module, a resonant capacitive-inductive bridge (CIB) module, a lock-in amplifier module, and a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller. The resonant capacitive-inductive bridge module converts the differential capacitance to a differential signal. The differential signal from the resonant capacitive-inductive bridge module is demodulated at the RF excitation frequency by the lock-in amplifier module. The PID controller receives the output signal from the lock-in amplifier module and generates two audio frequency AC signals to generate a compensation electrostatic force and maintain the capacitance balance inside the capacitive module.

  • Patent number: 8803749
Abstract: An elliptically polarized (EP) dielectric block antenna comprises a linearly polarized (LP) dielectric block antenna and a wave polarizer integrated with the LP dielectric block antenna. The wave polarizer converts the LP wave of the LP dielectric block antenna into an EP wave or a circularly polarized (CP) wave. The wave polarizer is directly integrated with the LP dielectric block antenna by fabricating inclined slots on faces of the dielectric block at an oblique angle to the LP wave direction of polarization. This provides a very compact EP or CP antenna with a broadside or omnidirectional radiation pattern. The EP or CP antenna is excited by an inner conductor of a SubMiniature version A (SMA) connector that can be directly connected to a coaxial line thereby providing a simple feed network for the antenna.

  • Patent number: 8805775
Abstract: A system, a method and computer-readable media for managing content received over a network by a client device. A network transmission communicating an item of content is detected by a client device, and a determination is made whether the client device is in a mode of operation that allows the storing of uninvited media content. For example, the client device may be a mobile communication device monitoring the media being transmitted over a broadcast channel. When an item of content is observed traversing the broadcast channel, a set of user-defined preferences is accessed to determine whether to permit receiving the item. If permitted, the item of content is stored in a data store on the client device for subsequent presentation to the user.
