  • Patent number: 9843562
Abstract: Private anonymous electronic messaging between a message originator and a message recipient within an organization encourages open communication which can provide information to the organization that might otherwise be secreted from the organization, and can allow the message originator to obtain desired help (e.g., counseling). By profiling of the message originator based on current and previous electronic messaging within the system as well as external organizational information (e.g., behavioral or financial information), the system can assess concerns yet act as a gateway to protect the message originator's true identity through escalating levels of concern unless a genuine concern about the health, well-being, and/or safety of the message originator, others, or the organization is indicated, in which case the system can reveal the true identity of the message originator as appropriate.

  • Publication number: 20170257699
Abstract: An acoustic layer is added to a laptop-type personal computing device, comprising: enclosing walls, optionally—one or more microphones, a signal processing device, at least one audio transducer, and an acoustic waveguide. The acoustic layer adjoins one or more internal areas of a laptop-type device. The signal processing device receives an internal signal from a laptop-type device. The signal processing device provides a directive sound enhancement of the audio input signals based on room acoustics, such as reverberation, echo, noise, delay, frequency response, and/or speaker-positional information that is determined by the signal processing device. The audio transducer device generates an audible audio output in response to an audio signal output from the signal processing device. The acoustic waveguide receives the audible audio output and generates an enhanced bass audio output from the acoustic waveguide.

  • Publication number: 20170108866
Abstract: An unmanned aircraft may be configured to avoid restricted areas by storing a database defining restricted areas in a memory of the aircraft and/or in a memory of a remote controller apparatus. Processor circuitry on the unmanned aircraft and/or in the remote controller apparatus receives an input command from to maneuver the unmanned aircraft. The input command may be a control input from a pilot, or a pre-programmed flight schedule command. Before performing the commanded maneuver, the processor circuitry predicts whether the maneuver is likely to violate a flight regulation, by entering a restricted area stored in the database, for example. If a violation is predicted, the command input command is ignored, discarded and/or blocked without executing the commanded maneuver.

  • Publication number: 20160335612
Abstract: A method of selling media based on individual consumption is used to charge users for viewing or listening to content based on how much of the content is consumed. The method of the present invention is performed by a system in which at least one remote server is used to store a plurality of content files and manage a plurality of user accounts. A desired file from the plurality of content files may be streamed to a corresponding computing device for an arbitrary account from the plurality of user accounts. As the desired file is streamed, a quantifiable content consumption is measured for the desired file. The quantifiable content consumption is compared to the desired file to calculate an adjustment proportion. The adjustment proportion is applied to a total price of the desired file in order to charge the arbitrary account based on the amount of content consumed.

  • Publication number: 20160328179
Abstract: Methods are disclosed for partitioning a solid state storage device to create multiple virtual storage devices, which may include one or more virtual tiers of data. Some examples of the methods address self-tiering of the data between the multiple virtual tiers within the physical device. And some examples provide for automatic movement of aging data blocks (i.e. data blocks for which and identified write threshold has been exceeded) to larger over-provisioning pools of blocks to reduce the rate of aging for those blocks.

  • Patent number: 9335886
Abstract: User interaction with multiple domains is facilitated while preventing cross-domain transfer of data from those domains. A compositioning domain facilitates this interaction in a secure manner in which cross-domain transfer of data is prevented. This includes obtaining pixel information from the domains via one or more read-only communication paths, providing a user interface to the user, which includes providing a display buffer including at least some of the pixel information obtained from each domain of the domains for display to the user, and maintaining an in-focus domain state. The in-focus domain state indicates which domain of the domains is currently in-focus. User input from the user based on the user interface is provided by a user input handler directly to the currently in-focus domain indicated by the in-focus domain state absent transfer of the user input to the compositioning domain.

  • Patent number: 9204211
Abstract: A soundskin for a pad-type device comprises a housing, at least one microphone, a signal processing device, at least one audio transducer, and an acoustic waveguide. The housing receives a pad-type device. The signal processing device receives a signal from a pad-type device when the pad-type device is received by the housing.
