  • Publication number: 20200050860
Abstract: A method is provided for providing target object information to a mobile interface device user in a dynamic structural environment. The method includes receiving from the mobile interface device a request for target object information associated with a target object in the dynamic structural environment. A pose of the mobile interface device relative to the target object is determined accounting for spatial differences in the environment coordinate system resulting from changes in the dynamic structure. The method also includes assembling AR target object information for transmission to and display on the mobile interface device and transmitting the AR target object information to the mobile interface device for display in conjunction with a real-time view of the target object.

  • Publication number: 20190355121
Abstract: Physical object boundary detection techniques and systems are described. In one example, an augmented reality module generates three dimensional point cloud data. This data describes depths at respective points within a physical environment that includes the physical object. A physical object boundary detection module is then employed to filter the point cloud data by removing points that correspond to a ground plane. The module then performs a nearest neighbor search to locate a subset of the points within the filtered point cloud data that correspond to the physical object. Based on this subset, the module projects the subset of points onto the ground plane to generate a two-dimensional boundary. The two-dimensional boundary is then extruded based on a height determined from a point having a maximum distance from the ground plane from the filtered cloud point data.

  • Patent number: 10484599
Abstract: The present disclosure provides approaches to simulating depth of field. In some implementations, an optimal scan distance of a camera from a subject in a physical environment is determined for a scan of the subject by the camera. A blur level is iteratively updated to correspond to a proximity of the camera to the determined optimal scan distance as the proximity changes during the scan. For each update to the blur level from the iteratively updating, an image comprising a three-dimensional (3D) model of the physical environment depicted at the updated blur level is generated on a user device associated with the scan.

  • Patent number: 10345925
Abstract: In one general aspect, systems and methods are described for determining positional data for three-dimensional interactions inside virtual reality environments. The methods may include receiving inertial measurement unit (IMU) data from at least one mobile device of a plurality of mobile devices operating in a virtual reality environment, obtaining absolute position and orientation data from at least one tracked controller, comparing the IMU data from the at least one mobile device with the absolute position and orientation data of the at least one tracked controller, detecting a correlation between the IMU data from the at least one mobile device and the absolute position and orientation data of the at least one tracked controller. Based on the detected correlation, the method may include determining absolute position and orientation for the at least one mobile device based on a determined relative orientation for the at least one tracked controller.

  • Publication number: 20190148861
Abstract: A connector assembly attaches downhole tools to one another to form a tool string. The connector assembly includes male and female subs, each with latch ends that selectively latch to one another. Ends of the subs distal from their latch ends are configured for attachment to the downhole tools. A plug assembly is in one of the subs and a socket assembly is disposed in the other sub; the plug and socket assemblies mate with one another when the subs attach. Mating the plug and socket assemblies forms a signal communication path through the connector assembly so that adjacent tools are in signal communication. The plug and socket assemblies and male and female subs are annular and circumscribe a bore that extends axially through the connector assembly. Downhole tools that attach to opposing ends of the connector assembly are in communication through the bore in the connector assembly.
