  • Publication number: 20140156370
Abstract: A system of electronically requesting, generating and processing a coupon over a payment processing network is provided. During a sales transaction, a purchaser at a point of sale (POS) terminal provides a customer identifier using a card with a magnetic stripe which is read by a magnetic card reader and then transmitted across the payment processing network along with product identifiers on the products being purchased. The customer identifier includes a banking identification number (BIN) which is read by a first server in the payment processing network and then forwarded to a coupon server. The coupon server uses the customer identifier and product identifier to select any coupons that are available for use by the purchaser and transmits the coupons back to the POS terminal, where the coupons are applied to the sales transaction.

  • Publication number: 20140142963
Abstract: A system for providing patient care includes acquiring, consolidating, distributing, storing and displaying medical data using cell phone platforms and non-proprietary hardware and software modules. The system includes sensing devices, acquisition devices, network appliances, cloud computing and storage, and presentation devices. Sensing devices are connected to acquisition devices via wired or wireless connections. Sensing acquisition devices can be used in a caregiver facility and in an outpatient environment and can connect to the cloud via cell phone (3G/4G) networks. Clinical data is sent in encrypted messages having only the header encoded using a standard scripting language, such as Lua. Presentation devices include computers, tablets, cell phones, and wall-mounted displays and can be located anywhere, enabling greater accessibility of patient data by caregivers.

  • Patent number: 8443063
Abstract: A network control system to determine alternative networks for a wireless communication device comprises a processing system and a communication transceiver. The processing system is configured to determine an identifier of a first wireless access node in communication with a first communication network serving the wireless communication device, and process the identifier of the first wireless access node with a network data structure to determine a second communication network for the wireless communication device based on the identifier. The communication transceiver is configured to transfer the network data associated with the second communication network for delivery to the wireless communication device, wherein the wireless communication device is configured to initiate a handoff to a second wireless access node in communication with the second communication network based on the network data associated with the second communication network.

  • Patent number: 8347074
Abstract: A method for translating network data transmissions begins with a data transmission received at a router. An interface identifier is prepended before a first field of the data transmission, forming a prepended field. The data transmission is transmitted to a translation device. The data transmission is translated without altering the prepended field. The translated data transmission is transferred back to the router. The interface identifier is removed. The translated data is transmitted while maintaining adjacency with an adjacent peer using the interface identifier.

  • Publication number: 20120126984
Abstract: The present application discloses methods and systems for transferring primary alarm notification on patient monitoring systems from a bedside monitor to one or more secondary devices which may operate on a less than fully reliable network. The bedside monitor includes an attached physiological parameter measurement device which detects when a specific physiological parameter measures outside a predetermined range. The bedside monitor then directs the secondary device(s) to annunciate its alarm. Primary alarming responsibility reverts from the secondary device(s) back to the bedside monitor whenever communication between the two is lost or when acknowledgement of the alarm condition by the secondary device is not relayed back to the bedside monitor within a predetermined amount of time.

  • Patent number: 5827007
Abstract: An entrance-deterring cap for manhole openings in which an annular pan has an annular flange extending laterally from a skirt for supporting the pan on an upper edge of a frame in a manhole opening. A support member comprises an elongate bar disposed outwardly of the pan with a pair of plates rigidly attached at distal ends of the bar. A threaded stud is attached to the elongate bar for insertion through an opening in the bottom of the pan whereby the plates of the bar are exposed outwardly of the skirt with the distal ends of the plates near the flange of the pan. An elongate flexible strand attached to the threaded stud extends through an opening in the pan for coupling the bar with the pan. The pan is supported by the flange on an upper surface of the frame in a manhole opening and the elongate bar is suspended by the flexible strand below the pan in a throat of the manhole opening. The strand is pulled in order to move the threaded stud through the opening in the pan.
