  • Publication number: 20190263235
Abstract: An apparatus for covering an open top of a transportation trailer container includes a frame on top of the container. The frame surrounds an aperture for flow of material into the container. The apparatus also includes an arm pivotable between a closed position and an open position. The arm holds a rotatable roller for dispensing and receiving a flexible cover. The flexible cover is wrapped around the roller when the arm is in the open position. The flexible cover is unrolled from the roller to cover the aperture due to motion of the arm from the open position to the closed position. The frame includes a side portion having an inwardly and upwardly tapered outer surface. The roller contacts the outer surface when the arm is in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 10352967
Abstract: Systems and methods provide measurement of alternating current (AC) electrical parameters in an insulated wire without requiring a galvanic connection between the insulated wire and a test probe. Measurement systems or instruments may include a housing that includes both a non-contact voltage sensor and a non-contact current sensor. The measurement system obtains measurements from the voltage sensor and the current sensor during a measurement time interval and processes the measurements to determine AC electrical parameters of the insulated wire. The AC electrical parameters may be presented to an operator via a visual indicator device (e.g., display, lights). The AC electrical parameters may additionally or alternatively be communicated to an external device via a wired and/or wireless communications interface.

  • Patent number: 10336168
Abstract: An apparatus for covering an open top of a transportation trailer container, such as a chip train carrying wood chips, is provided. A flexible cover (e.g., tarp) is deployed and retracted using a roller moved overtop of the container using pivotable arms. A recessed region houses the base of the arm and associated components. A secondary cover covers the recessed region and is biased toward a cover closed position. An actuating surface associated with the arm pushes the secondary cover to a cover open position. Other features include inwardly angled container sides, a foam sealing member integral with the flexible cover, the secondary cover closing when the flexible cover is both fully opened and fully closed, channels between the recessed region and the container, narrow and/or sloped surfaces, and a retaining hook for capturing a roller connected to the arm.

  • Publication number: 20190084468
Abstract: A trailer for transporting granular material, such as sand or proppant, has a purpose-built shape, and loading and unloading hatches at top and bottom. The trailer includes a hollow vessel for holding granular material. The vessel is enclosed with top and bottom hatches. The vessel has a tapered lower section and a domed upper section, allowing bulk material to be piled and concentrated horizontally below and above the hatches. A chassis extends fore and aft of the vessel, and potentially through an interior of the vessel. The chassis may extend upward from a wheeled section so as to pass through a vertically central part of the vessel. The chassis may also act as a trailer suspension system. The vessel may be made of aluminium and mounted to the steel chassis.

  • Patent number: 10185372
Abstract: A data storage enclosure for storing data on digital storage media has a lid that secures to a base. The enclosure has an upper insulating block that is located adjacent the lid and a lower insulating block that is located in the base. Each insulating block has a corresponding cover that overlays and protects its respective block. A storage unit has outer thermal management layers and a center layer located therebetween. The thermal management layers each contain a corresponding heat absorber that absorbs energy and changes from solid to liquid as the temperature of the storage unit begins to rise to excessive temperatures. The center layer contains a digital storage drive that is connected to a flexible cable that is connected to a sacrificial connector. When assembled, the insulating blocks and covers constrain and hold the storage unit and flexible cable.

  • Publication number: 20180136259
Abstract: Systems and methods for measuring alternating current (AC) voltage of an insulated conductor are provided, without requiring a galvanic connection between the conductor and a test electrode. A non-galvanic contact voltage measurement device includes a conductive sensor, an internal ground guard, and a reference shield. A reference voltage source is electrically coupleable between the guard and the reference shield to generate an AC reference voltage which causes a reference current to pass through the conductive sensor. Sensor subsystems may be arranged in layers (e.g., stacked layers, nested layers, or components) of conductors and insulators. The sensor subsystems may be packaged as formed sheets, flexible circuits, integrated circuit (IC) chips, nested components, printed circuit boards (PCBs), etc. The sensor subsystems may be electrically coupled to suitable processing or control circuity of a non-contact voltage measurement device to allow for measurement of voltages in insulated conductors.

  • Patent number: 9935979
Abstract: A method, communication device and computer program product communicate between the communication device and a second communication device using an instant messaging application. The first device receives contact information identifying the second communication device and determines a contact type for the second communication device from the contact information. If the contact type is a first contact type, the contact information is stored in a first partition of a memory of the communication device. If the contact type is a second contact type, the contact information is stored in a second partition of the memory. The partitions may employ different encryption schemes or one partition may be is unencrypted. A third party has access and control over the second partition. The device communicates with the second communication device using a security policy associated with the contact type.
