  • Publication number: 20150211266
Abstract: A latch assembly includes a chassis, a latch bolt moveably mounted on the chassis and having a closed position for retaining a striker and an open position for releasing the striker, a pawl having an engaged position at which the pawl is engaged with the latch bolt to hold the latch bolt in the closed position and a disengaged position at which the pawl is disengaged from the latch bolt, thereby allowing the latch bolt to move to the open position, an eccentric arrangement defining an eccentric axis and a pawl axis remote from the eccentric axis. The eccentric arrangement is rotatable about the eccentric axis, and the pawl is rotatable about the pawl axis. When the pawl moves from the engaged position to the disengaged position, the eccentric arrangement rotates in one of a clockwise and a counter-clockwise direction about the eccentric axis.

  • Patent number: 9015103
Abstract: A method of assigning the UNIX computers in a network to one of a plurality of groups called zones, of creating independent sets of UNIX identity information for each network entity (user or group) for separate zones, and of associating an entity's sets of UNIX entity information with a single global entity record for the entity in the network's identity resolver. A further method of allowing a UNIX computer to request entity information from the identity resolver, and of the identity resolver returning resolved entity information appropriate for the requesting computer's zone. A further method of managing sets of zone-specific UNIX identity information in the identity resolver to ensure that entity names and entity identification numbers are not duplicated within a zone and to all the same names and numbers to be duplicated across zones. Other embodiments are also described.

  • Publication number: 20150066196
Abstract: A method of scanning an object using an analogue probe mounted on a machine tool, so as to collect scanned measurement data along a nominal measurement line on the surface of the object, the analogue probe having a preferred measurement range. The method includes controlling the analogue probe and/or object to perform a scanning operation in accordance with a course of relative motion, the course of relative motion being configured such that, based on assumed properties of the surface of the object, the analogue probe will be caused to obtain data within its preferred measuring range, as well as cause the analogue probe to go outside its preferred measuring range, along the nominal measurement line on the surface of the object.

  • Publication number: 20150040216
Abstract: Systems and methods for restricting application binary interfaces. An example method may comprise: initializing, by a process spawned by a kernel of an operating system running on a computer system, a system call filter inhibiting at least one type of application binary interface (ABI) calls; receiving a system call issued by a user space program executed by the computer system; intercepting the system call by the system call filter; determining that the system call is disabled by the system call filter; and performing a pre-determined action with respect to the system call.

  • Publication number: 20150012962
Abstract: Implementations for secure network labeling to control inter-process communications in a multi-tenant Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) system are disclosed. A method of the disclosure includes initializing, by a processing device of a node, a gear of an application on the node, wherein the node hosts a plurality of gears for a plurality of applications of a multi-tenant Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) system, and wherein the plurality of applications comprising multi-tenant applications having different owners. The method further includes determining a user identifier (UID) of the gear, generating a custom network security label (NSL) of the gear, assigning the custom NSL to the gear, and applying the custom NSL to an outgoing network packet sent from the gear to another gear within the PaaS system.

  • Patent number: 8919770
Abstract: A printer extracts a media sheet from a plurality of media sheets in a media supply and moves the media sheet along a media path. A plurality of sensors on the media path generate signals as the media sheet moves past the sensors, and the printer identifies a cross-process direction dimension of the media sheet with references to signals generated by the sensors. The printer identifies the dimension of the print medium without requiring media size sensors in the media supply.

  • Patent number: 8911233
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a dental bur storage device having a plurality of dental bur receiving holes capable of retaining a plurality of different dental bur types having different shank diameters, wherein, each of the plurality of dental bur receiving holes is tapered to allow a retaining fit to be established with any one of the plurality of different dental bur types having different shank diameters. The advantage of using a receiving hole that has a tapered form is that different types of dental burs having different diameters of shanks may be retained by the receiving holes in the dental bur storage device. This allows a wide range of different brands and different types of dental burs to be accommodated on one single dental bur storage device which greatly simplifies the process of selecting a dental bur for a dentist, particularly during a dental treatment.

  • Publication number: 20140283646
Abstract: A transmission system for a hybrid vehicle is disclosed. The system includes a primary input shaft for receiving drive from a primary vehicle drive motor, such as an internal combustion engine. A secondary input shaft receives drive from a secondary vehicle drive motor, such as an electric motor. An output shaft of the system is connected to drive a final drive unit. A multi-speed gearbox is provided to connect the primary input shaft to the output shaft at one of a plurality of gear ratios. There is provided an input selection mechanism which, in a first configuration, connects the secondary input shaft to drive the output shaft and, in a second mode, connects the secondary input shaft to drive the primary input shaft. A clutch may be provided that can selectively connect or disconnect drive between the primary drive motor and the gearbox.
