Abstract: Software for use on a client device that is configured for communications via a communications network instantiates a communications function that effects an advertisement download communication link between the client device and an advertisement distribution server system via the communications network, at selected advertisement download times, an advertisement download function that downloads advertisements identified in a playlist(s) generated by at least one playlist server, via the advertisement download communication link, at the selected advertisement download times, an advertisement storage function for storing the downloaded advertisements on a storage medium associated with the client device, and an advertisement display function that effects display of at least selected ones of the stored advertisements.

Abstract: A riding golf cart club holder for use on a golf cart. The golf clubs are placed in aligned gaskets and tubular structures which prevent the golf clubs from touching each other or rattling. When locked, the golf clubs cannot be unauthorizedly removed from the golf club holder.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for controlling the data rates for communications to and from a base station and a plurality of remote users. The usage of the communications resource whether the forward link resource (from base station to remote users) or reverse link resource (from remote users to base station) is measured. The measured usage value is compared against at least one predetermined threshold value and the data rates of communications or a subset of communications on said communications resource is modified in accordance with said comparisons.

Abstract: The present invention relates to codon optimised polynucleotides which are efficiently expressed in mammalian cells and encode insect proteins from Dermaphagoids dust mite. In particular, the optimised codon polynucleotides encode a protein from Dermaphagoides pteronyssinus, such as DerP1 or proDerP1. The present invention also provides methods of preparing pharmaceutical compositions comprising the expression of the codon optimised polynucleotides, and vectors and transformed host cells comprising them.

Abstract: A system for a server-less peer-to-peer data network for content transfer between wireless devices is described. The system includes a first wireless device having a first address and content, and a second wireless device. The first wireless device transmits a message including the first address over a first service. The second wireless device receives the message from the first wireless device and establishes a communication path to the first address over a second service to receive the content from the first wireless device. A method embodiment includes transmitting a message from a first wireless device to a second wireless device over a first service, wherein the message includes a first address. The method further includes establishing, by the second wireless device, a communication path over a second service to the first address to receive content from the first wireless device after receiving the message from the first wireless device.

Abstract: A method for monitoring a cleaning process for a medical instrument, includes the steps of placing the instrument in a cleaning chamber; placing a soil standard in the cleaning chamber; cleaning the instrument and the soil standard with a cleaning solution; and detecting whether soil remains on said soil standard. The soil standard includes two substantially parallel substrates separated with two substantially equal thickness spacers, wherein a gap is formed between the two substrates with soil in the gap.

Abstract: A system and method for receiving data in a mobile electronic device from a data input device are disclosed. For example, the system includes logic configured to detect connection of a data input device to a connector coupled to the mobile electronic device. This detection is performed by at least one of examining the operational state of a device included within the mobile electronic device, an electrical sensing circuit to determine a presence of the data input device, and a mechanical sensing circuit to determine a presence of the data input device. Upon determining that the connected device is a data input device, data from the data input device is collected and processed.

Abstract: A mobile electronic device includes an earphone/microphone port, an I/O circuit to receive a modulated data signal from data input devices via the earphone/microphone port, and a processor unit programmed to extract data from the modulated data signal. The processor unit (or the I/O circuit) detects connection of a device to an earphone/microphone connector of the mobile electronic device and determines whether the connected device is a data input device. If the connected device is a data input device, the processor unit is programmed to extract data from modulated data signals generated by data input device.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide devices and methods for providing versatile user interface for an electronic device. In one embodiment, the device includes a display and a plurality of modular layers, each deployable in a different direction. The method includes deploying one of the modular layers, detecting which one of the modular layers is deployed, and orienting information presented on the display based on the deployed modular layer. In one embodiment, the method provides for detecting which one of the module layers is deployed, and providing an operational mode based on the deployed module layer.

The device includes various initiators, which request execution of an object by submitting a unique Object-ID to an object manager, whereupon the object manager identifies the requested object, its entry point, and object class and then activates the requested object accordingly.

Abstract: A system and method for downloading graphical images to a display device from a server through a wireless communications network within a predetermined time interval. In one embodiment, a docking station for a wireless device is provided with a connector for connecting the display device, and docking station provides a dial tone to the display device within the predetermined time interval and requests connection to the server through the wireless device. The docking station will not provide the dial tone outside of the predetermined time interval.

Abstract: A method of sterilizing an article includes placing the article into a chamber containing an inner atmosphere and exhausting the inner atmosphere to lower pressure in the chamber. Hydrogen peroxide vapor is present in the chamber during at least a portion of the step of exhausting the inner atmosphere. Exhaustion of the inner atmosphere is terminated and additional hydrogen peroxide is admitted into the chamber. Hydrogen peroxide vapor contacts the article for a sufficient period to effect sterilization of the article.
