  • Publication number: 20050191222
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for sterilizing a lumen device. A lumen and a container having an interface on a wall of the container are enclosed in a chamber. The lumen is placed across the interface so that one end of the lumen is in the container and the other end is in the chamber. Germicide is introduced into the chamber, and a pressure difference is created between the two ends of the lumen, so that the germicide flows through the lumen. The lumen may alternatively be placed across an interface which separates the chamber into two areas. Germicide is introduced into the chamber, and a pressure difference is created between the two areas of the chamber, causing the germicide to flow through the lumen.

  • Publication number: 20050175070
Abstract: Synchronized broadcast transmits a same broadcast content using a same waveform from multiple transmitters. Transmitters each apply a same spreading code for broadcast transmissions. In a spread-spectrum communication system having a time division multiplexed forward link, a synchronized broadcast transmission is inserted into a broadcast slot. One embodiment employs an Orthogonal Frequency Divisional Multiplex (OFDM) waveform for the synchronized broadcast. An OFDM receiver is then used to process the received synchronized broadcast transmission. An alternate embodiment implements a broadcast Pseudo-random Noise (PN) code for use by multiple transmitters. An equalizer is then employed to estimate the synchronized broadcast transmission.

  • Publication number: 20050157720
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to optimize delivery of multicast content using probabilistic feedback. A method is provided for transmitting data from a server to a plurality of receiving terminals. The method includes transmitting the data from the server to the plurality of receiving terminals, and generating a random response value at each receiving terminal. The method also includes comparing the response value to an acknowledgement value at each receiving terminal, and transmitting an acknowledgment signal to the server from selected receiving terminals. The selected receiving terminals are a portion of the plurality of receiving terminals where the response value has a selected relationship to the acknowledgement value.

  • Publication number: 20050115939
Abstract: A laser beam is generated, having a irradiance level sufficient to be divided, is transmitted through a beam splitter that optically processes the beam to divide it into multiple beams having a predetermined irradiance. The multiple beams are further optically transformed to provide an annular irradiance distribution. The annular beams are applied to a target to perform a drilling operation.

  • Patent number: 6534002
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of cleaning endoscopes within a container, wherein fluid flows from inside the container through the endoscope channels, predominantly in one direction, from the smaller-caliber end of an endoscope channel, or lumen, to the larger-caliber end. This method prevents the lodgment of particulate matter and human tissue in the smaller-caliber end of endoscope channels, and it allows fluid to flow through the entire length of all endoscope channels, to permit debris to exit the channels.
