Abstract: A circuit arrangement and method utilize cache injection logic to perform a cache inject and lock operation to inject a cache line in a cache memory and automatically lock the cache line in the cache memory in parallel with communication of the cache line to a main memory. The cache injection logic may additionally limit the maximum number of locked cache lines that may be stored in the cache memory, e.g., by aborting a cache inject and lock operation, injecting the cache line without locking, or unlocking and/or evicting another cache line in the cache memory.

Abstract: A method and circuit arrangement selectively stream data to an encryption or compression engine based upon encryption and/or compression-related page attributes stored in a memory address translation data structure such as an Effective To Real Translation (ERAT) or Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB). A memory address translation data structure may be accessed, for example, in connection with a memory access request for data in a memory page, such that attributes associated with the memory page in the data structure may be used to control whether data is encrypted/decrypted and/or compressed/decompressed in association with handling the memory access request.

Abstract: A machine and method for making bags is described and includes a web traveling from an input section to a rotary drum, to an output section. The drum includes at least one seal bar, having a first sealing zone and an adjacent weakening zone. The weakening zone may be a heated perforator, heating wire, and/or may create an auxiliary sealed area. The heating wire is powered by a source of power at an adjustable voltage or magnitude, and/or pulsed, and/or with a feedback loop. The heating wire may make intermittent contact with the web and/or be disposed in an insert. The weakening zone may create a line of weakness that is uniform or varies in intensity, is a separating zone. The sealing zones may include temperature zones, cartridge heaters, cooling air, or heated air, or a source of ultrasonic, microwave or radiative energy.

Abstract: The invention relates to a combination of compounds for treating skin diseases and particularly rosacea and ocular rosacea. It is the combination of a compound selected from azelaic acid and salts thereof with a compound of the alpha-1 or alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist family. The invention also relates to a product in the form of a kit containing: (a) a first composition comprising a compound selected from azelaic acid and salts thereof, and (b) a second composition different from the first one and comprising a compound of the alpha-1 or alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist family, as a combination product for application thereof as a medicament for treating and/or preventing skin diseases and in particular rosacea and ocular rosacea, wherein said first and second compositions can be applied simultaneously, separately or with a time delay.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to bipolar ablation systems. A bipolar electrode system for ablation therapy is disclosed, including a pressure-sensitive conducting composite layer and a pair of electrodes in electrical conductive contact or communication with the pressure-sensitive conducting composite layer. Energy (e.g., ablation energy) is delivered via the pressure-sensitive conductive composition when sufficient pressure is applied to transform the pressure-sensitive conductive composite to an electrical conductor. An electrically insulative flexible layer, which may include a passageway for a fill material is also disclosed. In some embodiments, the systems can also be used for targeted delivery of compounds, such as drugs, using a bipolar electrode.

Abstract: Identification of infectious pathogens, particularly viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms is effected with a method whereby pathogens of acute infections can be identified, without first culturing them in external nutrient media, by mass spectrometric measurement of their protein profiles obtained from pathogens directly precipitated from body fluid into pellets by centrifuging. With this method, pathogens which cause acute infections can be identified in less than one hour.

Abstract: Alloys of copper and manganese and copper, manganese and zinc can be used for the production of coins, such as the U.S. five cent piece or “nickel.” With appropriate platings, these alloys can match the electromagnetic signatures or electrical conductivity of currently circulated coins. This is important as modern vending machines include sensors which measure the conductivity of coins to ensure they are genuine.

The intermediate hop may be configured to relay video content from the video source to the video sink through the hybrid link using one or more data relay modes. The hybrid link may be configured to perform hybrid link control signaling (HLCS) to manage a physical layer of the hybrid link. The video link between the video source and the video sink may be configured to transmit a video stream the from video source to the video sink over one or more video lanes. A video link training may be implemented for the video link and the hybrid link.

Abstract: Disclosed is a lighting fixture that provides approximately even illumination across a planar surface. Also enclosed is an LED light for producing the same. In one embodiment, the light fixture includes a plurality of hollow gradient diffusion globes; each diffusion globe is affixed to a planar reflector that forms an outer illumination surface of the light fixture. Each diffusion globe surrounds a light-emitting portion of an LED or LED cluster. The hollow gradient diffusion globe can include a wall defining by the interior and exterior boundary of the diffusion globe. The wall includes diffusing-particulate homogenously distributed within the wall that in combination with varying thickness of the wall creates continuously varying diffusion. The relative spacing of the diffusion globes on the planar reflective surface in combination with the continuous variable diffusion property of each globe produce approximately even illumination across the outer illumination surface of the LED light fixture.

The devices can be medical invasive balloons, such as those used for transcutaneous heart valve implantation, such as balloons used for transcatheter aortic-valve implantation. The balloons can have high strength, fiber-reinforced walls.

Abstract: A system for maintaining a continuous speed in a long rolling mill is provided that includes a plurality of guide rollers that feed a billet product from a caster to an entry roll stand along a mill pass line to an exit roll stand. Also, the system includes a plurality of gauges positioned at a plurality of locations along the mill pass line, the gauges perform speed measurement of the billet product passing along the guide rollers. Furthermore, the system includes a logic controller that receives the speed measurement and maintains a speed relationship where the speed between the caster and the entry roll stand is constant as well as the exit speed of the end roll stand is also constant.

Abstract: Methods provide for creating a three-dimensional random fiber orientation in a composite component. According to embodiments described herein, narrow flakes are created from a unidirectional composite fiber tape and poured into a reservoir of a mold, creating a three-dimensional random fiber orientation of the narrow flakes within the reservoir. At least a majority of the narrow flakes have an aspect ratio of length to width of at least 6:1. The narrow flakes are heated and compressed to fill the mold and create the composite component. The three-dimensional random fiber orientation of the narrow flakes within the reservoir is maintained as the narrow flakes are pushed through the mold, creating consistent, uniform strength characteristics throughout the resulting composite component.

Abstract: There is provided an apparatus and method to interact with a smart object s through a smart device. A smart object management method and apparatus includes creating information in which a smart object is described in a predetermined format including dereferenceable information. The information is registered. The method and apparatus receive an instruction to operate the smart object from a smart device to interact with the smart object. The method and apparatus search for information required for execution of the instruction with reference to the dereferenceable information, create a control instruction to execute the instruction based on found information, and transmit the control instruction to the smart object.
