Patent number: 11950852Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed whereby a surface detection system is employed to obtain intraoperative surface data characterizing an exposed surface of the spine. In some embodiments, this intraoperative surface data is registered to segmented surface data obtained from volumetric data of the spine in order to assess the intraoperative orientation of the spine and provide feedback associated with the intraoperative orientation of the spine. The feedback may characterize the intraoperative spinal orientation as a change relative to the preoperative orientation.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2020Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: 7D SURGICAL ULCInventors: Michael K. Publication number: 20240099845Abstract: Described herein are methods and apparatus for approximating targeted tissue using locking sutures. The locking sutures can be configured to receive suture ends that are interweaved through portions of the locking sutures. In a pre-deployment configuration, a locking suture can slide along suture tails and can be positioned at a target location within a target region. Once a desired position and/or tension is achieved, the locking suture can be transitioned to a post-deployment configuration where the locking suture constricts around the suture tails to inhibit relative movement between the suture tails and the locking suture. A visualization system can be used to provide visual feedback with respect to approximating the targeted tissue and the locking sutures.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 4, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Felino V. Patent number: 11932855Abstract: Retrotransposons, operating though human-specific neurological pathways, can contribute to environment, lifestyle, and/or age-related neurodegeneration by disrupting functional mitochondrial populations within neurons. The mitochondrial disruption can occur through a number of retrotransposon-induced mechanisms that can influence the efficient and accurate transcription and/or translation of mitochondrial genes encoded in the nuclear genome, operating primarily through epigenetic processes. Alu element-related conformational changes (both subtle and major) of the outer and inner mitochondrial membrane pores can restrict or prevent the normal translocation of proteins (i.e., TOMM and TIMM complexes), ultimately contributing to mitochondrial stress, mitophagy, inflammation, and neuron and glial cell death.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: DUKE UNIVERSITYInventor: Peter Anthony Larsen

Publication number: 20240066810Abstract: Methods are provided for joining a composite component, such as a rotor blade of a wind turbine. Accordingly, a first blade segment is provided and a bladder assembly is positioned thereon. Additionally, an adhesive element is positioned in a first position on the first blade segment. A second blade segment is positioned with the first blade segment so as to define an inner cavity therebetween. The inner cavity contains the adhesive element and the bladder assembly, but the adhesive element does not contact the second blade segment while in the first position. The bladder assembly is inflated to transition the adhesive element to a second position in contact with both the first blade segment and the second blade segment. With the adhesive element in contact with both blade segments, the adhesive element is allowed to cure in order to secure the blade segments to one another.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2021Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Peter Anthony BROOME, Allen Russel HALL, Chad Allen BOUDOIN

Publication number: 20230362001Abstract: A vault encryption abstraction framework computing system provides interface functionality to facilitate integration of client applications with vaulting solutions. The vault encryption abstraction framework manages custom authentication and authorization using the vaulting solution application for one or more client applications such as by periodically rotating or renewing any authentication tokens. The vault encryption abstraction framework includes a scheduler to manage timing requirements and to configure the client application to the schedule by setting the renewed token value to an API endpoint (e.g., a function return) and/or a configuration file for access by one or more client applications. This event triggers the client application to update to the latest token value. The vault encryption abstraction framework then triggers the vaulting solution to create and return the new key. The new key is then returned to the client application.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 12, 2023Publication date: November 9, 2023Applicant: Bank of America CorporationInventors: Sourav Basu, Peter Anthony Tavormina
