  • Publication number: 20080110504
Abstract: A modular membrane filtration system (5) includes a number of banks (6) of membrane modules (7). Each module (7) includes upper and lower modular manifolds (8) and (9), respectively which are connected to one another to form upper and lower common manifolds (10) and (11) for each bank (6). The upper and lower manifolds (8) and (9) are used for delivery of feed and removal of filtrate and waste liquid from the modules (7). A gas feed manifold (12) runs along the top of the module banks (6) and feeds gas to lower gas manifold (13) through drop lines (14). A further manifold (15) runs in parallel with the common upper and lower manifolds (10) and (11) and is connected thereto at connections points (16) between the manifold banks (6).

  • Publication number: 20060188241
Abstract: A portable fluid heating tool capable of heating a flow of water under mains pressure to about 107 degrees Celsius and has a connection to a water supply via a hose. Water flows through an electrical heater within the tool, then to a thermally controlled pressure regulating valve (80) and then to the outlet nozzle. This valve (80) has a moveable member such as a diaphragm (83) sealing off a pressure chamber (88). Movement of the diaphragm (83) causes a valve (85) to open or at least partly close. When closed the valve (85) impedes, or restricts the flow of water from an inlet (86) to an outlet (87) through the valve. On the other side of the diaphragm a small quantity of water is trapped within the pressure chamber (88), so that as the valve (80) heats up, pressure within the pressure chamber (88) rises as the water turns to water vapour and the air within the chamber also expands.

  • Patent number: 5301102
Abstract: The feedback calculation for a dynamic matrix control (DMC) system has been modified so that it can accommodate a delay period between the time when the output variable is measured and when the measurement is available for feedback. This was accomplished by storing the projection vectors calculated by the DMC system and then comparing them to the output variable measurements as they become available. The algorithm was modified to handle planned production rate changes by adding another term to the equation used to calculate the projection vectors. This term involves multiplying the dynamic matrix for a given disturbance variable by a vector of future changes in that disturbance variable.
