  • Publication number: 20120079673
Abstract: A cleaning appliance includes separating apparatus for separating dirt from a dirt-bearing fluid flow, a floor engaging rolling assembly housing a motor driven fan unit for drawing the fluid flow through the separating apparatus, a chassis connected to the rolling assembly, and a duct for conveying the fluid flow to the separating apparatus. To improve the stability of the appliance, the duct has an inlet section which is connected to the chassis for pivoting movement relative to the chassis as the appliance is maneuvered over a floor surface. An outlet section for coupling the inlet section to the separating apparatus is releasably connected to the rolling assembly to facilitate the removal of any blockages within the duct.

  • Publication number: 20120063723
Abstract: The present invention provides an optical fibre connector (1) having a fibre connector sub-assembly (21) and an outer connection sleeve (40), sub-assembly (21) having an optical fibre and an inner housing (20). The optical fibre is held within housing (20) along axis (5), and is terminated for optical connection to a mating connector along a connection direction (61). Sleeve (40) has a securing portion (50) and a connecting portion (48). Securing portion (50) is fixed to sub-assembly (21) so that sleeve (40) extends around sub-assembly (21). Connecting portion (48) has an inner surface that provides a socket (44) for receiving a corresponding portion of a mating connector along direction (61). Socket (44)'s inner surface has at least one rib that extends transverse to direction (61), connecting portion (48) being elastic such that the rib(s) may, in use, stretch over and engage with a corresponding feature of a mating connector.

  • Patent number: 8130681
Abstract: The data transmitted from a first station is transmitted at a first data rate. The data transmitted from a second station is transmitted at a second data rate. The second data rate is lower than the first data rate. In view of both the difference in data rates and the synchronization between radio stations, a separate synchronization word is not required to be sent from the second station to the first station on the uplink portion; instead, and because the uplink slots of a given frame are synchronized between transceiving stations, the start of the uplink payload slot can comprise signalling information which simply acts to signify the start of transmission of uplink data from the second station.

  • Patent number: 8117595
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for dynamically applying a rights management policy to a message by allowing an administrator to associate certain rights management policies with certain senders and recipients of messages, with groups of users possessing certain common criteria which define the users and groups of users, with certain attributes of the message, and with certain environmental attributes. Also disclosed is a method for allowing an administrator to automatically update a rights management protected message as it passes through a message transfer agent. The administrator may determine either on a regular interval or an ad-hoc basis that the message transfer agent scan the messages stored to determine whether or not the content has expired. If the content has indeed expired the administrator may take steps to have the expired content deleted entirely, refreshed with more current content, or replaced with a tombstone indicating that the original content has expired.

  • Patent number: 8110022
Abstract: A hydrogen purifier utilizing a hydrogen permeable membrane, and a gas-tight seal, where the seal is uses a low temperature melting point metal, which upon heating above the melting point subsequently forms a seal alloy with adjacent metals, where the alloy has a melting point above the operational temperature of the purifier. The purifier further is constructed such that a degree of isolation exists between the metal that melts to form the seal and the active area of the purifier membrane, so that the active area of the purifier membrane is not corrupted. A method of forming a hydrogen purifier utilizing a hydrogen permeable membrane with a seal of the same type is also disclosed.
