  • Patent number: 7860802
Abstract: A license is issued to a user as decryption and authorization portions. The decryption portion is accessible only by such user and has a decryption key (KD) for decrypting corresponding encrypted digital content and validating information including an identification of a root trust authority. The authorization portion sets forth rights granted in connection with the digital content and conditions that must be satisfied to exercise the rights granted, and has a digital signature that is validated according to the identified root trust authority in the decryption portion. The user issued accesses the decryption portion and employs the validation information therein to validate the digital signature of the authorization portion. If the conditions in the authorization portion so allow, the rights in the authorization portion are exercised by decrypting the encrypted content with the decryption key (KD) from the decryption portion and rendering the decrypted content.

  • Patent number: 7833355
Abstract: A carbon nanotube (CNT) extrusion system includes a carbon source, an extrusion die having a baseplate having a plurality of die sets, each die set has a plurality of through-holes in fluid communication with the carbon source and a corresponding plurality of template tubes connected at one end to the baseplate and coaxial with the through-holes, each template tube includes a catalyst for forming a CNT structure in combination with the carbon source. An oscillating mechanism operatively associated with the free end of each template tube axially oscillates the template tubes to alternately form and release the CNT structure within each template tube in a continuous manner. The oscillating mechanism can be an alternating electric field or magnetic field applied to the template tubes, the frequency of the electric or magnetic field being synchronized with a formation rate of the CNT within the template tubes.

  • Patent number: 7827156
Abstract: An organization maintains a computer network comprising at least a forest A and a forest B, where forest A has a directory A and a querying entity A capable of querying directory A, and forest B has a directory B and a querying entity B capable of querying directory B. Querying entity A receives a request from the user and decides whether to grant the request based at least in part on whether the user is a member of the group. Thus, querying entity A queries directory A to return information on the group, is directed to forest B, contacts querying entity B, requests querying entity B to query directory B whether the user is a member of the group, receives a response, and grants the request from the user based at least in part on whether the user is a member of the group.

  • Patent number: 7823251
Abstract: A surface-treating appliance in the form of a vacuum cleaner has a main body, a surface-treating head and a support assembly. The support assembly is moveable between a supporting position, in which it supports the main body, and a stored position, in which it lies substantially against the main body. The provision of a support assembly that lies substantially against the main body of the appliance when not needed improves the maneuverability and range of motion achievable by the appliance in use. The support assembly may be brought out of its supporting position by a user-depressible pedal, which makes the appliance user-friendly.

  • Publication number: 20100263538
Abstract: A hydrogen purifier utilizing a hydrogen-permeable membrane to purify hydrogen from mixed gases containing hydrogen is disclosed, with improved sealing means where the seals are formed by first melting a metal with a low temperature melting point, and then allowing the metal to form a subsequent alloy which has a melting temperature above the operational temperature of the purifier. The improved seal allows for the fabrication of hydrogen purifiers at lower temperatures than conventional methods such as brazing. Various metallurgical combinations and methods for achieving the seal are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20100264759
Abstract: A brushless starter/generator includes a rotor rotatably mounted within a stator mounted within a housing and an oil cooling system using cooling oil from an engine accessory gearbox for cooling the rotor and the stator. The rotor is fixedly mounted on a rotor shaft having a rotor heat exchanger disposed therein. A stator heat exchanger for cooling the stator includes an oil jacket around the housing. The stator heat exchanger includes a grooved tube around the housing and axially extending axial passages connected to annular inlet and outlet manifolds in the grooved tube. The rotor shaft is operably connected to a power take-off shaft within the gearbox and rotatably supported by a shaft bearing in a gearbox casing of the accessory gearbox. The oil cooling system is a dry cavity oil cooling system which prevents cooling oil from entering an air gap between the rotor and the stator.
