  • Publication number: 20240094398
Abstract: A system for determining a pose of a vehicle and building maps from vehicle priors processes received ground intensity LIDAR data including intensity data for points believed to be on the ground and height information to form ground intensity LIDAR (GIL) images including pixels in 2D coordinates where each pixel contains an intensity value, a height value, and x- and y-gradients of intensity and height. The GIL images are formed by filtering aggregated ground intensity LIDAR data falling into a same spatial bin on the ground and using a registration algorithm to align two GIL images relative to one another by estimating a 6-degree-of-freedom pose with associated uncertainty that minimizes error between the two GIL images. The aligned GIL images are provided as a pose estimate to a localizer. The system may provide online localization and pose estimation, prior building, and prior to prior alignment pose estimation using image-based techniques.

  • Patent number: 11828891
Abstract: A scintillation block detector employs an array of optically air coupled scintillation pixels, the array being wrapped in reflector material and optically coupled to an array of silicon photomultiplier light sensors with common-cathode signal timing pickoff and individual anode signal position and energy determination. The design features afford an optimized combination of photopeak energy event sensitivity and timing, while reducing electronic circuit complexity and power requirements, and easing necessary fabrication methods. Four of these small blocks, or “miniblocks,” can be combined as optically and electrically separated quadrants of a larger single detector in order to recover detection efficiency that would otherwise be lost due to scattering between them.

  • Patent number: 11787616
Abstract: Flexible multilayer laminates may have an improved integrated, one-way pressure-release valve for use in a sealed container for packing gas-producing products. The pressure-release valve is partly disconnected from the rest of the laminate, forming an inflatable outlet tube with at least one large outlet opening and lifting off from the laminate under increased pressure in the pack. The one-way pressure-release valve allows for pressure-release at low minimum opening pressure in a reliable and reproducible way.

  • Publication number: 20230314416
Abstract: Methods for enhancing the binding rate between at least two particulate binding partners are disclosed. Methods include flowing a first binding partner and a second binding partner, e.g., in a viscoelastic fluid, under conditions to chemically bind the first binding partner and the second binding partner to create a third binding partner. The flow conditions induce a particle size dependent, migration, e.g., radial, velocity differential between the first binding partner and the second binding partner and between the first binding partner and third binding partner, e.g., to increasing a collision frequency of the nanoparticles and the larger particles. Devices for enhancing the binding rate between at least two particulate binding partners are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11773821
Abstract: A method for assembling a component, such as a wind turbine blade, includes providing a first element of the component and providing a second element of the component. An alignment member is inserted at a predefined position in one of the first or second elements, the alignment member having a predefined shape. The alignment member is positioned within a receiver portion of the other of the first or second elements along a joining portion, and the first and second elements are then joined. During the joining process, the alignment member aligns along a longitudinal axis of at least one of the first or second elements.

  • Publication number: 20230280243
Abstract: Methods are herein described which reduce the non-specific light scattering background from polymeric microspheres in aqueous suspension to a level where individual metal or metal-like plasmonic nanoparticles that have been chemically bound to the surface of individual polymeric microspheres can be imaged by high resolution optics and enumerated by image analysis software. The non-specific light scattering background is reduced by employing aqueous-miscible solvents to remove residual water at the microsphere surfaces and resuspending the microspheres in a fluid having a refractive index substantially similar to the refractive index of polymeric microspheres. Embodiments of the method disclosed herein enable sensitive quantitative assays for ligand receptor binding, antigen antibody binding and nucleic acid hybridization binding. The embodiments disclosed herein further may employ polystyrene microspheres and gold plasmonic nanoparticles.
