  • Publication number: 20090307386
Abstract: Restoring retired transaction identifiers (TID) associated with Direct Memory Access (DMA) commands without waiting for all DMA traffic to terminate is disclosed. A scoreboard is used to track retired TIDs and selectively restore retired TIDs on the fly. DMA engines fetch a TID, and use it to tag every DMA request. If the request is completed, the TID can be recycled to be used to tag a subsequent request. However, if a request is not completed, the TID is retired. Retired TIDs can be restored without having to wait for DMA traffic to end. Any retired TID value may be mapped to a bit location inside a scoreboard. All processors in the system may have access to read and clear the scoreboard. Clearing the TID scoreboard may trigger a DMA engine to restore the TID mapped to that location, and the TID may be used again.

  • Publication number: 20090298407
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided controlling aircraft cabin pressure, and more specifically engine bleed air manifold pressure, during aircraft descent. An aircraft engine bleed air manifold control pressure setpoint is to either a descent pressure setpoint or a cruise pressure setpoint by determining a rotational speed of an aircraft engine component, determining a component speed setpoint value, and determining aircraft vertical speed. The engine bleed air manifold control pressure setpoint is set to the descent pressure setpoint if either the determined rotational speed of the aircraft engine component is below the component speed setpoint value or the aircraft vertical speed is less than a predetermined vertical speed value.

  • Patent number: 7607098
Abstract: System and methods are described for dynamically controlling operation of a rheometer. A program is created on a programming interface for executing a test upon a sample in a rheometer by receiving user selections of a plurality of nodes and connections of each node to another node according to directional connection indicators. Nodes indicate steps for performing a test upon a sample or configuring a rheometer for performing a test upon a sample. Scripts are created for generating a sequence of instructions to the rheometer. The scripts include instructions for performing steps indicated by each of the selected nodes and in accordance with the directional connection indicators. Low-level instructions are downloaded from the scripts for execution in the rheometer, and drivers in the rheometer are instructed for performing the downloaded instructions.

  • Patent number: 7564893
Abstract: A test system is capable of performing parallel modulation error measurement of transceivers using a loop-back configuration. Each transceiver includes a transmitter and a receiver. A signal generator generates a first modulated signal for input to the receivers of the transceivers. A tester is operable to measure a first demodulation error produced by the receiver in response to the first modulated signal and to measure a modulation error of the transmitter based on the first demodulation error and a second demodulation error. The second demodulation error is produced by the receiver in response to a second modulated signal generated by the transmitter and coupled from the transmitter to the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20090114120
Abstract: A process for manufacturing an ink, or pigment formulation (e.g. a concentrate) for use in inks, comprising filtration of a composition comprising a particulate pigment and a liquid medium through an inorganic filter having pores of a uniform size below 10 microns. The process accurately removes oversized particles that could cause problems in inkjet printers without wasting non-problematic under-sized pigment. High flow rates are achieved even with low trans-filter pressure differences. In one embodiment, high flow rates are maintained by selection of pH and/or ionic strength. The filters are more robust than conventional polymeric filters and withstand cleaning with aggressive cleaning agents.

  • Publication number: 20080294296
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to systems and methods for controlling the temperature of an internal device while reducing or minimizing the involvement of the host. Thus, some of the heat monitoring and remediation work may be offloaded to the actual device itself. The device may monitor its own temperature and, in the event of high temperature, perform device specific heat reduction actions without involving the host. Furthermore, the device may, upon detecting temperature within a predefined range, alert the host of a high temperature condition in order to allow the host to perform temperature reduction measures. Also, the device may, upon detecting temperature within a predefined range, alert the host of an impending device shutdown and shut the device down. In addition, the device may periodically save its temperature into non-volatile memory in order to create a temperature log.

  • Publication number: 20080288368
Abstract: Systems and methods for real-time pricing of shipping vendors are provided. Various shipping vendors may be queried concerning shipping specifications. Some embodiments provide for a query to be transmitted to a shipping vendor through an interface associated with the particular shipping vendor. In response to the query, real-time pricing information associated with the shipping specifications is received and displayed to a user. Upon the user designating a shipping vendor, customized shipping labels for each shipping vendor may be generated.

  • Patent number: 7313546
Abstract: The invention provides a currency selectable stored value instrument, whose currency may be chosen or converted at the time value is loaded, after load but prior to redemption of value, at the time of redemption, or at other times. One embodiment of the system is configured so that the stored value instrument may be a plastic card with a magnetic stripe, compatible with card readers on Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) or other terminals. • Patent number: 7233873
Abstract: An electrical machine has a rotor position transducer which provides output signals to a control system. The output signals contain errors due to component shortcomings and manufacturing imperfections. A method is disclosed which is able to determine the errors in the signals by successively running the machine with a series of assumed errors in the rpt signals and building up a set of test results. These results are subsequently compared with each other so as to determine the optimum value of corrections to the control system of the machine. The correction may be stored in the control system and used to improve the accuracy of the transducer output signals, thus improving the output of the machine.
