  • Patent number: 5695623
Abstract: The device for measuring and displaying the concentration of glucose in the blood comprises a display device (2) into which disposable sensors (1) comprising a biomembrane (9) can be inserted. The display device (2) comprises a built-in computer (3) in whose memory (7) a glucose concentration diagram (5) is stored and which can evaluate the measurement results of the sensors (1). The computer (3) comprises a time measuring device (4) whose zero setting can be correlated in an irreversible manner with the date of manufacture of the disposable sensors (1). Before the device is supplied to the patient, the glucose concentration diagram, which corresponds to the characteristics of the biomembrane (9) of the disposable sensors (1) at the time of manufacture, is irreversibly calibrated. The glucose concentration diagram is automatically and irreversibly corrected, taking into account the time-dependent characteristics of the biomembrane (9) of the disposable sensors (1), by means of the time measuring device (4).

  • Patent number: 5444315
Abstract: Electrical lines for two axially located housings are molded into an inelastic carrier and covered at both faces of the carrier. A seal is injection-molded onto the inelastic carrier. In one implementation in which the carrier is disposed between a commutator housing and a gear housing, the inelastic carrier engages a brush holder that is inserted into one housing of the commutator motor. The design enables the electrical lines to pass into the interior of two axially located housings in a simple manner, while guaranteeing a reliable moisture seal between the housings.

  • Patent number: 5414316
Abstract: For a reliable moisture-tight seal at the separation point between a motor housing and a gear housing with a drive shaft of the motor projecting into the gear housing as a helical shaft and its mounting (cup bearing) in the region of the separation point, the cup bearing has a double-lip seal in the sense of a complete moisture seal of the motor housing relative to the gear housing assigned to it. An outside seal of the gear housing is thus eliminated. In order to be able to guarantee long maintenance-free operating lifetimes in spite of penetration of moisture into the gear housing part, the worm wheel which meshes with the helical shaft made of steel, which projects into the gear housing part, consists of POM plastic with lubrication-modified POM plastic added in a certain mixture ratio.

  • Patent number: 5410921
Abstract: A universal window-actuator drive unit capable of use with either a cable pulley window-actuator or an arm-scissors type window-actuator. A worm shaft extends from a driving motor and is rotatably coupled to a worm gear. The worm gear is coupled in a rotational-slave relationship to a driving disk, and both the worm gear and the driving disk are rotatably supported on a gear housing shaft. At its end opposite the driving disk, the gear housing shaft includes an actuator shaft collar concentrically surrounding the gear housing shaft and having a grooved toothing about its inner circumference. This inner grooved toothing enables the window-actuator drive unit to be coupled to either a drive pinion of an arm-scissor type window actuator or a cable pulley of a cable pulley window actuator, each of which include couplings having an outer grooved toothing corresponding to the inner grooved toothing of the actuator shaft collar.

  • Patent number: 5383865
Abstract: A medication dispensing device comprising a cartridge for containing an injectable product therein and an injector attached to the cartridge. The injector includes a drive mechanism comprising a dosage sleeve having a dosage knob at the proximal end thereof and a threaded rod coupled to the sleeve and axially advanceable into the cartridge upon clockwise rotation of the knob for dialing up a desired dosage to be injected. A ratchet mechanism is disposed in the injector housing and includes a rotatable piece secured to the dosage sleeve for rotation therewith and a locking seat in engagement with the rotatable piece. The ratchet mechanism permits rotational movement of the sleeve in the clockwise direction only. A disengaging mechanism is secured to the housing of the LCD assembly and includes a pin that extends into and engages the rotatable piece of the ratchet mechanism such that axial movement of the pin causes corresponding axial movement of the stationary piece.

  • Patent number: 5370629
Abstract: The invention concerns an injection device (1) receiving in exchangeable manner an ampoule (4) with a plunger (5) and an injection needle (6). It further comprises an actuation means (7) essentially consisting of an operating head (8), a drive element (11), a guide element (24) and an output member (9, 19) preferably in the form of a rod (9) and flange (19). • Patent number: 5307704
Abstract: To simplify the design and assembly of an adjustment drive with a gear wheel mounted to rotate in a gear housing with a gear housing lid and with a driver provided with a power take-off element (e.g., a pinion) being in a drive connection with it on the output side, directly or indirectly, present invention provides that the driver is simultaneously structured as a power take-off shaft and is mounted to rotate with at least one bearing region in the gear housing or in the gear housing lid, respectively. In a further embodiment, the gear wheel is a one-piece component of the driver and is preferably placed into a drive connection with it via spring web type spokes in the form of tangential stop damping.

  • Patent number: 5259261
Abstract: The invention is used in an actuating drive comprising two friction partners, in particular a geared actuating drive with a toothed worm wheel which braces itself radially with a cup-shaped edge part against an outer rim part of a concentric slave disc which is driven over an at least tangentially elastic damping liner. The invention is designed to prevent squeaking noises between the friction partners when there is reciprocal relative movement, and to require minimal expenditure of time and energy for construction and assembly. The invention provides in each case for the one rim part to have an even edge surface and for the other rim part to have an uneven friction surface, with elevations only abutting on the one friction surface and with depressions situated inbetween.

  • Patent number: 5112317
Abstract: A prefilled syringe (3) with plunger (5) is arranged in the lower housing member (2) of the injection device, and a drive stem (39) for the advancement of the plunger is supported in the upper housing member (1), this drive stem being advanceable by a specific stroke (1.sub.1) by means of a knob (11) and being retractable by the same stroke (1.sub.1) by means of a spring (49). The two housing members (1, 2) can be telescoped by means of a helical gear mechanism (9, 50) approximately by the entire advancement path (1.sub.3) of the plunger (5) within the ampoule (3). The amount of fluid to be injected in each case is determined by the respective extent of telescoping of the two housing members (1, 2).The length of the injection device is a measure for the content of the ampoule (3) so that the user, without giving special attention, will recognize when the liquid reservoir is running low by the feature that the device becomes increasingly shorter with progressive injections.
