  • Patent number: 5073134
Abstract: A boat drive of the type in which a housing outside the hull of the board and below the water level receives a hollow propeller shaft driven by a drive shaft connected to the propeller shaft by a transmission. The hub of a variable pitch propeller is mounted on the propeller shaft and the axially extending stems which adjust the pitch on this hub are engaged by a push rod extending through the prop shaft and connected to a double acting cylinder at the opposite end from that at which the rod is connected to the stems.

  • Patent number: 5061212
Abstract: A variable-speed propeller in a ship drive has the hydraulic valves feeding the working chambers of the hydraulic drive for the variable-speed propeller formed as electromagnetic valves controlled by timing relays which can be switched by a rocker switch or push-button switches to adjust the propeller pitch by an angular increment controlled by the "on" time of the relays. The engine speed is detected and, when the engine speed exceeds the maximum speed of the engine, the relay associated with increased pitch is triggered to obtain an increment of engine-speed reduction, thereby preventing the system from inadvertently having the blade pitch reduced when the engine is at maximum speed.

  • Patent number: 4962576
Abstract: In a process in which a non-woven strip is needled to a revolving endless carrier web, adjacent convolutions of the non-woven strip should exactly adjoin each other. For that purpose each convolution of the non-woven strip is initially needled to the carrier web with the exception of a marginal portion, which constitutes a free longitudinal edge, and that marginal portion is needled after the position and direction of the free longitudinal edge have been detected.

  • Patent number: 4944174
Abstract: A heating bath including molten metal is situated at an entry into a hot roll mill such that the metal stock entering the hot roll mill passes through the heating bath to acquire heat therefrom. A cooling bath including molten metal is situated at an exit from the hot roll mill such that the metal stock exiting from the hot roll mill passes through the cooling bath delivering heat thereto. The molten metal in each of the baths is caused to flow counter to the direction of passing of the metal stock therethrough to form within each bath a hotter fraction and a cooler fraction of the molten metal. The molten metal is circulated between the heating bath and the cooling bath so that a hottest fraction of the molten metal in the cooling bath is transferred to the heating bath and a coolest fraction of the molten metal in the heating bath is transferred to the cooling bath.

  • Patent number: 4913370
Abstract: Described is a coil collecting station for wire-rod mill trains with a coil collecting chamber consisting of a pre-collector, collecting pin and limiting cage, in which at least two collecting pins can be brought alternatively into a loading and/or discharging position by means of swing movements. The enveloping diameter of the collecting pin in the loading position is variable with respect to its diameter in its discharging position for a wire coil wound up thereon. For this purpose, said collecting pin consists of a plurality of pin rods, some of which being fixed and the other ones being supported radially movably with respect to said fixed pin rods.

  • Patent number: 4805675
Abstract: A sliding valve for withdrawing liquid or gaseous chemical products from a container has a cylindrical valve spool which slides axially in a bore through a valve housing. A first annular groove of the valve spool connects, in the open position of the valve, a product supply line to a product withdrawal line. On one side of this first annular groove there is a second annular groove which, in the open position, connects a gas supply line to a gas withdrawal line. An annular groove on the other side is connected to the second annular groove. By this arrangement, protective gas is admitted to the valve spaces on either side of the first annular groove, which handles the product, with the result that escape of the product to the outside, or penetration of impurities, are positively prevented.
