  • Patent number: 6161406
Abstract: A method of preadjusting cold deforming plants, such as cold rolling trains, skin pass stands, stretcher-and-roller levelers, straightening machines, and the like, wherein the hardness of the material to be deformed is measured shortly before the cold deformation of the material and is utilized for correcting its hardening curve and the preadjustment of the cold deforming plant based on the measurement. The standard hardening curve of a material or a group of materials with corresponding standard values of hardness, yield strength, tensile strength, etc., can be corrected by an additive or multiplicative linkage with a correction member which contains at least one tensile strength determined through the measured hardness value.

  • Patent number: 6138487
Abstract: A roll, particularly a back-up roll, for rolling flat material is composed of a rotating roll shell and a unit arranged within the roll shell for influencing the bending stiffness of the roll shell. The unit for influencing the bending stiffness of the roll shell is a friction bearing in the form of a body of rotation. The body of rotation can be adjusted by rotating the body. The body of rotation is shaped in such a way that the load application surface thereof corresponding to the zone of the roll shell to which load is applied is part of the circumferential surface of a rotation-symmetrical body and the edge of this circumferential surface is shaped in such a way that along the circumference of the body of rotation the width and/or position of the load application surface vary.

  • Patent number: 6021718
Abstract: A two-axle undercarriage for track-bound transport systems carrying freight and passenger traffic, especially for inseparable train units, is divided into two parts, each part housing a wheel set. The two undercarriage frame halves are connected to each other in an adjustably articulated fashion on the plane of travel and are axially movable relative to each other to a limited extent in the direction of travel. To provide a tensilely-strong connection of two adjacent car bodies of the track-bound transport system, a connecting rod is used that permits adjustment of the undercarriage frame halves. The connecting rod is arranged between the adjacent car bodies so that cardanic movement is permitted between each of the two adjacent car bodies so that cardanic movement is permitted between each of the two adjacent car bodies and the connecting rod.

  • Patent number: 5732628
Abstract: A sheet-conveying drum for use between units in a printing machine is provided with a plurality of gripper bridges arranged substantially circumferentially symmetrically on the drum surface. The gripper bridges hold the paper on the drum and include gripper impact strips that are adjustable substantially radially relative to the drum in order to accommodate printing materials of different thickness. Each gripper impact strip is adjusted by means of a positioning device that is arranged on the drum radially inward of the gripper impact strip and mounted so that it can move axially relative to the drum and cam the gripper impact strip radially. The axial movement of the positioning devices is brought about by two actuating devices which are mounted opposite each other on the side frames of the printing machine. The actuating devices are preferably pneumatic cylinders and are adapted so that when they are extended they periodically engage adapters on the free ends of the positioning devices as the drum rotates.

  • Patent number: 5055920
Abstract: Color television signals obtained by scanning a still picture are converted into digital video signals and stored in video frame memory for delaying the signals. Undelayed and delayed digital video signals are added together to produce a luminance signal in which the color carrier is suppressed. A circuit for detecting a change of picture provides a start signal after which the first frame of a still picture is stored and is then recycled until there is another picture change. To reduce the effect of recycling, the continuously supplied picture signal is modified by a factor of 1-k, and the recycled picture is modified by the factor k, wherein k varies between 0 and 1 (or 100%) and is a gradually rising function whose rise time extends over a multiplicity, for example 2-4, video frame periods.
