  • Patent number: 8351337
Abstract: A diagnostic tool is provided for calculating the availability of multi-segment pseudowires within an internet protocol (IP)-based mobile backhaul network. A control message is transmitted from an originating node towards a destination node within the IP-based mobile backhaul network over a primary multi-segment pseudowire and a secondary multi-segment pseudowire. From the response messages received from intermediate nodes positioned between the network node and the destination node along the primary multi-segment pseudowire and the secondary multi-segment psuedowire, the originating node determines the identities of each of the intermediate nodes, and calculates a respective individual availability of the primary multi-segment pseudowire and the secondary multi-segment pseudowire.

  • Patent number: 8339995
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and system for providing synchronization clock performance simulation in a timing-over-packet network having a network management system. The system retrieves information from nodes in a network and determines a timing-over-packet topology in a simulated model of the network, and determines clock stability statistics. The system further accepts simulation inputs such as addition or deletion of nodes in the simulated network, or introduction of failures into in the simulated network. The system provides predicted clock stability performance of an existing network under various simulated conditions without requiring modifications or introduction of failures to the existing network which would be useful for network optimization and network planning.

  • Publication number: 20120049749
Abstract: An intelligent dimmer (12) for managing a lighting load (172) coupled to an AC voltage source (174) is disclosed. In particular embodiments, the intelligent dimmer (12) may be incorporated into a system (10) and method (220-228) for managing lighting power density. In one embodiment of the intelligent dimmer (12), a control circuit (170) is coupled between the lighting load (172) and the AC voltage source (174). A threshold load current value is established for the lighting load (172). A line voltage sensor (178) reads the line voltage across the lighting load (172) and a load sensor (178) samples the load current being provided to the lighting load (172). The control circuit (170) compares the sampled load current to the threshold load current to determine the presence of a cutoff condition and, in response thereto, selectively adjusts the line voltage applied to the lighting load (172).
