  • Publication number: 20100109787
Abstract: A technique for oscillator stability and accuracy verification involves analysis of parameters from a plurality of phase locked loops (PLLs). During testing, each PLL receives a stable reference clock to identify variations in its clock oscillator. Mathematical calculations on the data extracted from each PLL permit identification of clock oscillators having undesirable timing characteristics. Remedial measures may then be implemented to correct problems with any faulty oscillators.

  • Patent number: 7624147
Abstract: A solution is provided that allows prompt notification of new e-mail arrival while minimizing the unnecessary loading of mail server and network resources. It provides a short time delay after arrival of new e-mail when the user needs it most, and minimizes the unnecessary loading of resources when the user does not require immediate notification. This is accomplished by establishing a session with the mail server once a predefined event, such as the sending of new e-mail, has occurred. This session may invoke server-initiated-notification of new-email for a limited period of time.

  • Patent number: 7623831
Abstract: A wireless communication device that is attached or included in an electronic object, such as a portable computer, having its own separate communication system. The separate communication system has an antenna for receiving and transmitting wireless communications, and is powered by a power supply included in the object. Since the separate communication system can only communicate when powered, a separate passive wireless communication device is provided for wireless communication that does not require power from the power supply to communicate. The wireless communication device is interfaced with the existing antenna of the separate communication system so that the wireless communication device and separate communication system share a common antenna to reduce cost. The antenna may also be interconnected to a controller associated with the object so that the controller can directly communicate to the wireless communication device.

  • Patent number: RE40972
Abstract: A wireless communication device and method for identifying a container, or communication information about a container, using a slot in the container as an antenna. The device includes a wireless communication device for transmitting information regarding the container. The container includes an outer wall forming a rim and a slot between the rim edge and the outer wall that is circular and continues without boundaries. The wireless communication device is coupled to the slot to provide the slot antenna for communications. An impedance matching network is additionally provided to make the operating frequency of the slot substantially the same as the operating frequency of the wireless communication device. Alternatively, shorting posts may be placed in the slot to define boundaries of the slot to match the operating frequency of the slot to the operating frequency of the antenna. Variable impedance matching is provided between the wireless communication device and the slot.
