  • Patent number: 9584594
Abstract: A system and method of dynamically provisioning virtualized computational resources in a networked computer architecture includes at least one client device operable to run one or more client applications, at least one server device and a resource controller. Each server device comprises one or more physical processors with local memory. Each server device provides a virtual resource layer through which one or more virtual processing resources can be defined and through which the physical processors of the server device can be assigned to the virtual processing resources. In use, one or more virtual processing resources is assigned to a client application for processing of data processing workloads. The resource controller then monitors the utilization of each virtual processing resource and/or any physical processor assigned to the virtual processing resource. The resource controller can dynamically adjust which, and how many, physical processors are assigned to the virtual processing resource.

  • Publication number: 20160357816
Abstract: A pattern can be identified in at least part of a query whose definition is received in a query request. The identified pattern can be matched with a set of pre-defined patterns, each of which has associated therewith at least one pre-compiled query execution sub-component of a plurality of pre-compiled query execution sub-components retained in a library. A plan for executing the query can be generated, for example by incorporating the pre-compiled query execution sub-component associated with the matched pattern into the plan based on a pseudo code representation of the plan derived from the definition.

  • Patent number: 9096021
Abstract: A forming tool with a predefined mold portion is provided in a method for producing a reinforced fiber composite component for aviation and aerospace. A forming/support element is molded by means of the mold portion of the forming tool. A semi-finished fiber product is then deposited at least in portions on the shaped forming/support element. The deposited semi-finished fiber product is deformed by means of the forming/support element to form at least one reinforcing portion. The forming/support element is then removed from the forming tool together with the reinforcing section formed on this element, followed by defined positioning of the reinforcing section thus formed with respect to an associated fiber composite component portion by supporting with the forming/support element. The reinforcing portion is cured to form the reinforced fiber composite component. A forming device is provided with a predefined mold portion which holds a forming/support element such that it can be removed.

  • Publication number: 20150178305
Abstract: Innovations for adaptive compression and decompression for dictionaries of a column-store database can reduce the amount of memory used for columns of the database, allowing a system to keep column data in memory for more columns, while delays for access operations remain acceptable. For example, dictionary compression variants use different compression techniques and implementation options. Some dictionary compression variants provide more aggressive compression (reduced memory consumption) but result in slower run-time performance. Other dictionary compression variants provide less aggressive compression (higher memory consumption) but support faster run-time performance. As another example, a compression manager can automatically select a dictionary compression variant for a given column in a column-store database.

  • Patent number: 8998313
Abstract: A passenger seat has a backrest and a seat which has first and second sections each having a first surface for a seat area and a second opposite surface. The second section pivots relative to the first section between a first position, in which the first surfaces of the first and second sections form a usable total seat area, and a second operational position, in which the second section is folded relative to the first section in the direction towards the backrest. Attached to the second seat section is a holder movable relative to the second surface of the second seat section between a first position, in which the holder extends substantially parallel to the second surface of the second seat section, and a second position, in which the holder extends at from 60° to 120° relative to the second surface of the second seat section.
