  • Publication number: 20040055187
Abstract: A display apparatus can include a substantially self-supporting panel adapted to be erected and used without the use of a support frame. In one embodiment, a frameless display fixture includes first and second panels fastened to one another proximal their upper edges, recesses adapted to receive retail merchandise integrally formed along a front side of the panel, and mating portions proximal their lower edge which interlock with a substantially rigid base unit such that the lower edges of the panels are held a fixed distance from one another. The first and second panels may be substantially mutually self-supporting so as to form a frameless display fixture.

  • Publication number: 20040045781
Abstract: A bag, of tote or briefcase size, includes an identification holder which is easily accessible. The identification holder, which may be integrated with a small, convenience storage pouch, is secured to the interior of a pocket of the bag by means of an expandable-contractible member which permits the identification holder/pouch to be readily presented for inspection without being disconnected from the bag. The pocket is releasably enclosed along the top and/or side edges thereof by a zipper, and stores the identification holder/pouch when not in use. The pouch serves as a convenient storage space for accessory items.

  • Publication number: 20040043592
Abstract: A processing sequence for definition of gate contacts can be implemented using either a deep ultra-violet (DUV) or mid ultra-violet (MUV) positive resist processing and supports the use of a reticle that integrates contacts to various regions including gates, sources and drains of various devices. In a one example, the wafer is coated with a planarizing anti-reflective coating (ARC), which then supports imaging of gate contacts using a positive DUV or MUV resist. This processing allows the nitride cap of certain transistor gates to be replaced with an oxide. In this example, the ARC can serve as an etch guide for selective removal of a film.

  • Publication number: 20030141486
Abstract: A scaled and corrosion inhibitor for the use in the treatment of water comprises at least one oxyalkylene unit and at least one phosphonate unit (e.g. a unit derived from a mono- or di-phosphonic acid such as VPA or VDPA). Inhibitors according to the present invention have been found to exhibit both scale-inhibiting and corrosion-inhibiting properties, especially in the treatment of cooling water and water used in oilfield applications.

  • Publication number: 20030009591
Abstract: DNS in its native form cannot identify a good or best server. Traditional Service Providers deploy a centralised approach to global traffic management based on enhancements to DNS, but do have the capability to augment this with edge-based server selection because they do not own/operate an edge network. Their resolution of DNS requests is typically restricted to identifying candidate servers within an edge domain rather than selecting the “best” server. The invention proposes a method of handling Internet resource requests whereby a local lookup server receiving a request searches for a best server able to satisfy the resource request. The local lookup server finds the best server by searching a database for a resource record associated with the best server, and then uses the resource record to retrieve an identifier of a series of executable instructions that are executed to locate the best server.

  • Patent number: 6347487
Abstract: The present invention relates to building structures that are floatable so that damage is reduced in the event of a flood. A sealed floor structure is described such that the entire superstructure can float under the influence of flood waters. The floor structure is supported above grade upon corbels and thence by a series of columns disposed around the perimeter of the building. The perimeter columns generally lie outside the superstructure envelope and continue up to or beyond the eaves level of the structure. As the building floats vertically these columns, via a sleeve mechanism, act to limit any horizontal movement of the structure. Mechanisms incorporated within the columns and floor structure limit the upward travel of the structure under the influence of flood waters.

  • Patent number: 6174787
Abstract: A method for rounding corners of a silicon substrate, in accordance with the present invention, includes forming a plateau on a silicon substrate having corners at edges of the plateau. A mask is formed on a top surface of the plateau, which is recessed back from vertical edges of the plateau to provide exposed horizontal portions. Fluorine or Argon dopants are implanted at the corners and on the exposed portions, and the substrate is oxidized such that the corners become rounded providing a gradual transition at the edges of the plateau.

  • Patent number: 6071434
Abstract: The reaction of compounds of the formula:X.sub.2 O.sub.3 P CHY CZ.sub.2where Y and each Z are each H, PO.sub.3 X.sub.2, SO.sub.3 X or CO.sub.2 X (e.g. vinyl phosphonic acid or vinylidene diphosphonic acid) with hypophosphorous acid in the presence of free radicals provides novel compounds X.sub.2 O.sub.3 PCHYCZ.sub.2 PO.sub.2 XH which react with monomers such as vinyl sulphonate, vinyl phosphonate, vinylidene diphosphonate and acrylic acid to form telomers useful for scale inhibition, especially barium scale in oil wells. The polymers show better absorption to rock than PVSA and better thermal stability than random copolymers containing equivalent phosphorus.

  • Patent number: 4972973
Abstract: A container suitable for containing liquids, comprising an inner vessel, an opening out of which contents of the inner vessel may be dispensed, a closure for sealing the opening and a jacket of heat insulating material surrounding the inner vessel. A portion of the heat insulating material is movable from a closed position where it extends over the opening to an open position, substantially without exposing the inner vessel to the outside environment so as to enable the contents to be dispensed from the container. The container further comprises a dispensing tube which, in use, extends into the inner vessel and a recess in the insulating material in which the dispensing tube may be located when not in use.
