  • Patent number: 9719672
Abstract: A light module includes a cover, a circuit board, a gasket, a bottom covering, and an optional optic assembly. The cover includes an inner and an outer wall extending outwardly from the cover, where the outer wall surrounds the inner wall and forms a groove therebetween. The circuit board is positioned within the inner wall's profile and includes a plurality of LEDs. The gasket is disposed within the groove. The bottom covering is positioned adjacent to the circuit board and is coupled to the cover. The gasket provides a seal between the cover and the bottom covering. The optic assembly is disposed within the inner wall's profile and between the cover and the circuit board. The optic assembly includes one or more apertures and one or more optics disposed around at least some of the apertures. Each optic is aligned with one or more LEDs.

  • Patent number: 9677751
Abstract: A multi-functional heat sink includes a top portion and a skirt portion extending down from the top portion. When a light source is attached to the top portion on an underside of the multi-functional heat sink, the skirt portion reduces risk of rain water from reaching the light source and prevents light emitted by the light source from exiting the multi-functional heat sink in an upward direction. The multi-functional heat sink is made from sheet metal.

  • Patent number: 9605830
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for reducing glare or pixilation associated with LEDs are disclosed. The disclosure relates to a light module that includes a cover panel that reduces contrast in the light emitted by LEDs. The cover panel can be mounted on a substrate which can include a plurality of LEDs. Apertures in the cover panel are aligned with each of the LEDs and any optic that may be disposed over each LED. A first portion of the light emitted from the LEDs passes through the optic only and into the environment to be illuminated. A second portion of the light emitted from the LEDs passes through both the optic and the cover panel before passing into the environment to be illuminated. The cover panel can be diffuse and can include various characteristics including textures, objects, and angled surfaces that assist in scattering light.

  • Patent number: 9557048
Abstract: A heat dissipating housing for a lighting device includes a back wall comprising an upper section and a lower section. The housing further includes a sidewall extending down from the upper section of the back wall. The back wall and the sidewall define a cavity of the housing. The upper section of the back wall is elevated from the lower section of the back wall such that when a printed circuit board (PCB) having an uninsulated electrical element on a back side of the PCB is in contact with the lower section of the back wall within the cavity, the uninsulated electrical element is separated from a closest point on the housing by an air gap and a distance that is compliant with an Underwriters Laboratories (UL) spacing requirement. The back side of the PCB faces the upper section of the back wall.

  • Publication number: 20160341598
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for estimating power spectral density (PSD). A processing apparatus and a test system are operatively coupled where a random signal generator produces a source signal comprising known statistical properties, and a first converter converts the source signal to a power spectral density (PSD) representation. The test system receives the source signal and produce an output signal, where a second converter converts the output signal to a second PSD representation, and an estimator estimates a magnitude-squared frequency response function (MSFRF) of the output signal and source signal. A weighting module may weight an estimation error factor based on at least one of a quality of the estimate and a user preference, and a removal module, removes a portion of the estimation error from the output signal PSD.
