  • Patent number: 8296948
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a heat exchanger having a brazed core with parallel tubes separated by and contacting centers that extend parallel to the tubes. The method utilizes a brazing fixture that enables the core to expand during brazing due to thermal expansion of the tubes and centers and maintains tube to center contact as the core shrinks due to melting of the braze alloy. The resulting brazed core has a post-brazed tube spacing pattern that facilitates assembly of the brazed core with headers of the heat exchanger.

  • Publication number: 20120186443
Abstract: A piston assembly, including: a back plate and a piston fixed to the back plate and including: an indent circumferentially disposed proximate an outer circumference for the piston plate and including a radially disposed surface; and a groove in the indent. The assembly includes a sealing element at least partially disposed in the indent; and at least one resilient element in contact with the piston and applying a first pressure to urge the sealing element in a first axial direction to create a gap between the piston and the sealing element. When the gap is present, the groove provides a flow path from a chamber at least partially formed by the back plate to the gap. When the sealing element is sealed against the radially disposed surface the flow path is blocked.

  • Patent number: 8215015
Abstract: A modular heat exchanger suitable for automotive applications, and methods for forming the modular heat exchanger. The modular heat exchanger construction incorporates a monolithic brazed core assembly composed of flat-type cooling tubes and sinusoidal centers. The required positional tolerances of the tubes for mating with the remainder of the heat exchanger are maintained within the brazed core assembly by minimizing core shrinkage resulting from the brazing operation during which the tubes are brazed to the centers.

  • Patent number: 8118481
Abstract: A detector for identifying a fluid is disclosed. The detector comprises a probe having a thermistor, the probe being arranged to be exposed to a fluid and to allow thermal flow between the fluid and the thermistor; a temperature sensor to measure the ambient temperature of the fluid and a controller. The controller is arranged to supply electrical power to the thermistor and to provide an output indicative of the identity of the fluid based upon whether the electrical power supplied to the thermistor is above or below a threshold value. The threshold value is adjustable in accordance with the measured ambient temperature of the fluid. Examples of such a detector provide reliable fluid identification despite variations in ambient temperature of the fluid and such a detector may be compact, inexpensive, reliable and robust.

  • Publication number: 20110276333
Abstract: Systems and methods of synchronizing media are provided. A client device may be used to capture a sample of a media stream being rendered by a media rendering source. The client device sends the sample to a position identification module to determine a time offset indicating a position in the media stream corresponding to the sampling time of the sample, and optionally a timescale ratio indicating a speed at which the media stream is being rendered by the media rendering source based on a reference speed of the media stream. The client device calculates a real-time offset using a present time, a timestamp of the media sample, the time offset, and optionally the timescale ratio. The client device then renders a second media stream at a position corresponding to the real-time offset to be in synchrony to the media stream being rendered by the media rendering source.
