  • Patent number: 7740402
Abstract: A detector and a method for determining the presence of a fluid are disclosed. The detector comprises a probe having a thermistor with the probe being arranged to be exposed to a fluid and to allow thermal flow between the thermistor and the fluid, a temperature sensor for measuring the temperature of the thermistor and a controller. The controller is arranged to supply electrical power to the thermistor when it is below a predetermined temperature to heat it up and to turn off the supply of electrical power to the thermistor when it is at or above the predetermined temperature. The presence or identity of a fluid exposed to the probe is determined based on the proportion of time that power is supplied to the thermistor to maintain it substantially at the predetermined temperature.

  • Patent number: 7657726
Abstract: A memory storage structure includes a memory storage device, and a first meta-structure having a first size and operating at a first speed. The first speed is faster than a second speed for storing meta-information based on information stored in a memory. A second meta-structure is hierarchically associated with the first meta-structure. The second meta-structure has a second size larger than the first size and operates at the second speed such that faster and more accurate prefetching is provided by coaction of the first and second meta-structures. A method is provided to assemble the meta-information in the first meta-structure and copy this information to the second meta-structure, and prefetching the stored information from the second meta-structure to the first meta-structure ahead of its use.

  • Patent number: 7616470
Abstract: A method of electronic computing, and more specifically, a method of design of cache hierarchies in 3-dimensional chips, and a cache hierarchy resulting therefrom, including a physical arrangement of bits in cache hierarchies implemented in 3 dimensions such that the planar wiring required in the busses connecting the levels of the hierarchy is minimized. In this way, the data paths between the levels are primarily the vias themselves, which leads to very short, hence fast and low power busses.
