  • Patent number: 8398571
Abstract: A cover (150) for a vibratory pad (10) comprises a pocket or pouch (158) faced with dressing fabric material and sized to accommodate a vibration pad, a closure (154e) to retain the cover on the pad, in use, and a strap (146,148) integral with the cover suitable for connecting the cover (and a pad retained therein) to the limb (29) of a patient. The strap has an (adhesive) connector (176) that is capable of being secured so as to pressure the pad against the limb and so that, once made, the connection cannot be unmade without disabling the connector against making subsequent connections. Thus the cover can only be used once. A system (12?150?) includes the vibration device and comprises means to disable the device after a cover has been employed for a period of time or number of treatments.

  • Publication number: 20130000293
Abstract: A pump system includes a closed-loop fluid circuit and an open-loop fluid circuit. The closed-loop fluid circuit includes a motor for rotating a first component connected to the closed-loop fluid circuit. A closed-loop pump drives the motor up to a first maximum rotational speed. The open-loop fluid circuit includes an open-loop pump for driving a second component connected to the open-loop fluid circuit. A control circuit includes a control valve for switching the outflow from the open-loop pump. The control valve selectively connects the open-loop pump to the closed-loop fluid circuit and simultaneously disconnects the open-loop pump from the open-loop fluid circuit. When the open-loop pump is connected to the closed-loop circuit, the closed-loop pump and the open-loop pump drive the motor at a second rotational speed greater than the first maximum rotational speed.

  • Patent number: 8334325
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preferentially breaking cross-links in a vulcanised rubber, thereby de-vulcanising the rubber, by the use of a supercritical fluid, such as carbon dioxide. The supercritical fluid maintained at an appropriate solubility parameter, swells the vulcanised rubber to a state of equilibrium swell. The cross links (3) become fully extended and under strain to hold the internal pressures caused by the solvent swelling affect of the supercritical gas. When equilibrium swell has been achieved, the pressure within the processing vessel is rapidly dropped to a level of not less than 60% of the level at which saturation took place, causing a degassing and expansion of the supercritical fluid that has been absorbed within the vulcanised rubber. The resulting three dimensional separation of the rubber molecules will put a further rapid strain on the cross links, causing them to break (7), thereby giving the affect of de-vulcanization.

  • Patent number: 8302617
Abstract: A fluid control valve for use in a system for inflating an anti-G garment. The valve includes an elongate chamber in which a valve member is moveable. The chamber has first and second axial ends. An inlet opening in a chamber wall provides for the flow of fluid into the chamber. A valve edge is provided at the second end of the chamber to form an outlet. The valve member has a first portion which closes the first chamber end and is moveable in the chamber between the inlet opening and the first chamber end, an intermediate portion which has a cross sectional area less than that of the chamber wall to permit the inflow of fluid to the chamber, and a second portion including a flow control device which co-operates with the valve edge to control fluid flow from the valve.
