  • Publication number: 20170005794
Abstract: Electronic devices are adapted to generate cryptographic keys from one or more biometrics. According to one examples, an electronic device can obtain a non-encoded bit string associated with biometric information for an individual. The non-encoded bit string can be treated as if it were encoded and a decoding operation may be applied to the bit string, resulting in a modified bit string. One or more cryptographic keys can then be generated based at least in part on the modified bit string. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

  • Publication number: 20160273413
Abstract: Tools and methods for indenting and assembling a switching rocker arm assembly having an inner arm, an outer arm and a latch. The tools and methods are directed to eliminating requirements for matched sets of components of rocker arm assemblies so that the assembled indented parts have desired latch lash tolerances. The tools used include fixtures and clamps for indenting kidney-bean shaped passages in an outer arm that mount a pivot axle of the outer arm. The tools used may also include a fixture and clamps for indenting a latch shelf of the inner arm. Indenting the inner arm and outer arm using these methods and fixtures results in switching rocker arm assemblies that fit together, and when assembled into a valve, have a desired latch lash.

  • Publication number: 20160273994
Abstract: A detection apparatus arranged to detect defects within a flexible pipe body. The detection apparatus comprises an electrical power supply and a first meter. The electrical power supply is arranged to couple between, and to supply current to, first and second electrically conductive members extending at least partially along the length of a flexible pipe body and electrically isolated from one another except for being electrically connected at a point remote from the power supply. The first meter is arranged to detect variation between the current flowing in each electrically conductive member. Detected variation is indicative of a pipe body defect causing an Earth fault along one of the electrically conductive members. A corresponding method, a pipeline apparatus including the detection apparatus and a method of forming the pipeline apparatus are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9450775
Abstract: A network may be configured to route traffic in such a way as to avoid packet loss in an event of link failure. The network may include a plurality of inner switches and a plurality of outer switches coupled to the plurality of inner switches. Each inner switch may be configured to receive traffic, determine whether a link to a next hop for the traffic is down, and forward the traffic to another outer switch if the link to the next hop is down. Each outer switch may be configured to bounce traffic received from the first inner switch to a second inner switch if the traffic is received as a result of determining that the link from the inner switch to the next hop is down. The second inner switch may then deliver the traffic, or further bounce the traffic off another outer switch.
