  • Publication number: 20170295128
Abstract: A user agent of a user selects another user having a user agent. The user agents exchange personal information about the user and personal information about the other user. The user agent determines whether a common interest exists between the two users based on the exchange of personal information. The other user is added to a social networking webpage of the user when the user agent determines that a common interest exists.

  • Patent number: 9774780
Abstract: Approaches are described which enable a user of a computing device (e.g., mobile phone, tablet computer) to capture a first image using the front-facing camera and then use that first image to guide the capturing of a second image (e.g., a higher quality image) using the rear-facing camera of the device. When the user turns the device around, the first image is used as a model template to guide the user in moving and/or rotating the device to align the rear-facing camera for capturing the second image.

  • Patent number: 9769584
Abstract: During a telephone call between a person and a wearer of a head-mounted display, the head-mounted display provides binaural sound of a voice of the person to the wearer. During the telephone call, the head-mounted display displays an image that represents the person, and the voice of the person externally localizes at the image that represents the person. The wearer provides a command to move localization of the voice of the person during the telephone call.

  • Patent number: 9749766
Abstract: A method provides binaural sound to a person through electronic earphones. The binaural sound localizes to a sound localization point (SLP) in empty space that is away from but proximate to the person. When an event occurs, the binaural sound switches or changes to stereo sound, to mono sound, or to altered binaural sound.

  • Patent number: 9749405
Abstract: A determination is made of users that form a group within a social network in which the users communicate with each other over a network with electronic devices in a client-server architecture. The users in the group within the social network form a peer-to-peer (P2P) storage group within a P2P storage network. In the P2P storage network, users are peers that act as a client and a server for each other.

  • Publication number: 20170245081
Abstract: A method generates a sound localization point (SLP) where binaural sound externally localizes to a person during a telephone call. The method determines coordinates of a location of a handheld portable electronic device (HPED) with respect to the person and saves this location as the SLP. During the telephone call, a voice of another person is convolved so the voice externally localizes to the person as the binaural sound at the SLP.

  • Patent number: 9699583
Abstract: A method improves computer performance to provide binaural sound in a telephone call. The method includes providing the telephone call with a voice of a calling party and a coordinate location that describes where a voice of the calling party should localize as binaural sound to the called party. The voice of the calling party is convolved to localize at the coordinate location.

  • Publication number: 20170182235
Abstract: An electrical sensor for sensing electromagnetic properties of process fluids in a dialysis machine or a similar medical device can include a probe for interfacing with the fluids that is made from electronic fabric materials. The electronic fabric probe can include one or more conductors embedded in a non-conductive fabric layer. The electronic fabric probe is accommodated an enclosure which establishes a flow path with respect to the probe to establish fluid contact between the process fluids and the conductors. The conductors can apply or sense current and/or voltage with respect to the fluid. A portion of the electronic fabric probe can be disposed externally of the enclosure to provide electronic communication externally of the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 9681245
Abstract: A method executed by one or more electronic devices in an electronic system moves binaural sound of a voice of a person during a telephone call. During the telephone call, the voice of the person is convolved with head related transfer functions (HRTFs) to externally localize the voice as binaural sound. A command moves the voice from externally localizing as binaural sound to internally localizing as one of mono sound or stereo sound.

  • Publication number: 20170161789
Abstract: A targeted advertisement is retrieved for a first user, and a targeted advertisement is retrieved for a second user. The targeted advertisements are switched such that the targeted advertisement intended for the first user plays on a display of an electronic device of the second user, and the targeted advertisement intended for the second user plays on a display of an electronic device of the first user while the first and second users communicate.

  • Patent number: 9664892
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for generating blue color illumination for use in a projection system. Light from a blue laser light source is reflected off a dichroic filter sequentially onto different color emitting phosphor coated light non-transmissive segments and onto a cyan color emitting phosphor coated light transmissive segment of a rotating color wheel. The different color light and cyan color light emitted by the phosphor back to the filter is selectively transmitted by the filter along a projection path. Blue laser light and cyan color light emitted by the phosphor transmitted through the color wheel is directed along a wraparound optical path back to the filter for reflection along the projection optical path.
