  • Publication number: 20140374119
Abstract: A hydraulic anchor is coupled to a packer subassembly of a tool string. The hydraulic anchor, when actuated by fluid pressure, engages the surrounding wellbore, holding the tool string in place within the wellbore. A packer may then be actuated, held in position within the wellbore by the hydraulic anchor. In some embodiments, an inflatable packer may be held in the desired location by the hydraulic anchor. In some embodiments, a straddle packer assembly may be held in place by the hydraulic anchor. In some embodiments, a swellable packer may be held in place during the swelling process by the hydraulic anchor.

  • Publication number: 20140297742
Abstract: A determination is made of users that form a group within a social network in which the users communicate with each other over a network with electronic devices in a client-server architecture. The users in the group within the social network form a peer-to-peer (P2P) storage group within a P2P storage network. In the P2P storage network, users are peers that act as a client and a server for each other.

  • Publication number: 20140261717
Abstract: A valve system is provided that includes an electromechanical solenoid, a gas valve including a magnetic flapper, a power source in electrical communication with the electromechanical solenoid, and a controller. The controller is configured to control the power source to supply an intermediate voltage that causes the electromechanical solenoid to move to a neutral position between a default position and a fully-actuated position. In so doing, the magnetic flapper is maintained in a neutral position between two gas ports and a flow of gas between the ports can be used to clean foreign particles from the magnetic flapper. The controller can also provide a varying voltage to the electromechanical solenoid while in the neutral position to cause vibration of the magnetic flapper and further assist in removing foreign particles. A closed loop system including a feedback circuit can be used for adjusting the voltage applied to the solenoid based on pressure sensed.

  • Publication number: 20140253882
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for generating blue color illumination for use in a projection system. Light from a blue laser light source is reflected off a dichroic filter sequentially onto different color emitting phosphor coated light non-transmissive segments and onto a cyan color emitting phosphor coated light transmissive segment of a rotating color wheel. The different color light and cyan color light emitted by the phosphor back to the filter is selectively transmitted by the filter along a projection path. Blue laser light and cyan color light emitted by the phosphor transmitted through the color wheel is directed along a wraparound optical path back to the filter for reflection along the projection optical path.

  • Publication number: 20140244744
Abstract: A user agent of a user selects another user having a user agent. The user agents exchange personal information about the user and personal information about the other user. The user agent determines whether a common interest exists between the two users based on the exchange of personal information. The other user is added to a social networking webpage of the user when the user agent determines that a common interest exists.

  • Publication number: 20140195345
Abstract: A computer system analyzes a user profile of a user and determines a product that the user expressed an interest in purchasing. A template video for the product is obtained. This template video is modified to include personal information about the user in order to generate a customized advertisement that is unique to the user. The customized advertisement is presented to the user.

  • Patent number: 8751989
Abstract: A technique for routing signal traces in an electronic package design includes extracting near-end and far-end crosstalk values for traces and vias from a model of the electronic package design. The extracted values are then length-normalized and the normalized values are allocated to coupling factors of a cost-function. A first bus routing for the electronic package design is performed to provide a first routed design. Length segments from the first routed design are extracted and inserted in the cost-function. Crosstalk for each bus net is accumulated using the cost-function. In response to the accumulated crosstalk being less than a determined limit, the first routed design is saved. In response to the accumulated crosstalk being greater than the determined limit, an additional bus routing for the electronic package design is performed.

  • Publication number: 20140098998
Abstract: For controlling operation of a vehicle, at least one camera captures an image of a screen on which a user places an object having features distinguishing the user. A controller detects the features in the image and analyzes the features to distinguish the user. In response to distinguishing the user, the controller outputs signals for controlling operation of the vehicle. A projector receives information from the controller and projects the information onto the screen, so that the information is displayed on the screen for viewing by the user.

  • Patent number: 8577741
Abstract: One embodiment is a method that monitors, on the computer, activity of a member of a group to build a profile of the member. The profile of the member is used to generate recommendations for gifts that the member wants to receive to celebrate an event. The method then transmits the gifts to a website so other members of the group can select one of the gifts to purchase for the member.
