  • Publication number: 20130010273
Abstract: A magnetic shield having non-magnetic gaps provides reduced magnetic cross-talk for a linear motor array in a precision positioning system. Redirecting the leakage flux limits the cross-talk and associated deleterious effects. Such preferred magnetic circuit paths for the leakage are affixed to the moving magnet system of the linear motor. Embodiments of the preferred flux leakage paths are realized by providing a ferromagnetic shield separated by a non-magnetic gap between the permanent magnets and the back-irons. In another embodiment, the ferromagnetic shield separation includes diamagnetic materials.

  • Patent number: 8285527
Abstract: As part of the design process it is required to design circuits in order to reduce their power consumption. This is typically done by enabling or disabling flip-flops (FFs), however, such change in the circuit requires certain verification. As sequential clock gating changes the state function it is necessary to perform a sequential equivalence checking (SEC) verification. Applying a full SEC may be runtime consuming and is not scalable for large designs. Methods to reduce the problem of verifying sequential clock gating by reducing the sequential problem into much smaller problem that can be easily solved is therefore shown.

  • Publication number: 20120254030
Abstract: A soft card provisioning application is instantiated on a device with wireless communications capabilities. A card number for a soft card desired to be provisioned on the device is obtained from a user of the device. An issuer identification number retrieved from the card number is communicated to a provisioning configuration server over an air interface. A provisioning issuer server network address is obtained from the provisioning configuration server based on the issuer identification number. Card issuer specific challenges are presented to the user, and the user's responses to the challenges are received. The challenge responses are communicated to the provisioning issuer server. Soft card image data and personalization data, where the personalization data includes personalized embossed and pre-printed data, are received from the provisioning issuer server over the air interface. The soft card is provisioned for use on the device based on the data received over the air interface.

  • Patent number: 8239847
Abstract: General-purpose distributed data-parallel computing using high-level computing languages is described. Data parallel portions of a sequential program written in a high-level language are automatically translated into a distributed execution plan. Map and reduction computations are automatically added to the plan. Patterns in the sequential program can be automatically identified to trigger map and reduction processing. Direct invocation of map and reduction processing is also provided. One or more portions of the reduce computation are pushed to the map stage and dynamic aggregation is inserted when possible. The system automatically identifies opportunities for partial reductions and aggregation, but also provides a set of extensions in a high-level computing language for the generation and optimization of the distributed execution plan. The extensions include annotations to declare functions suitable for these optimizations.

  • Publication number: 20120177498
Abstract: An axial retention device for a turbine system is disclosed. The axial retention device includes a pocket defined in a mating surface of one of a turbine component and a support structure. The pocket includes a first axial load surface. The axial retention device further includes a latch comprising a base member and a pivotal member. The base member is associated with a mating surface of the other of the turbine component and the support structure. The pivotal member is configured to engage the pocket and includes a first mating axial load surface. Engagement of the pivotal member and the pocket allows the first axial load surface and the first mating axial load surface to interact, preventing axial movement of the turbine component with respect to the support structure in the at least one direction.

  • Patent number: 8219966
Abstract: In one embodiment, data in an application floorplan is exposed in a controlled way for integrating new external services to the application floorplan. Service definitions of the external service for integration with the application floorplan is generated. Further, a semantic type data of a global data type used in the application floorplan is generated. Upon generating the semantic type data, a semantic type mapping of an instance of the semantic type data is generated. Furthermore a map between a service parameter of the external service and the semantic type mapping is presented. Thereby, the application floorplan and the external service are integrated by executing the external service in the application floorplan using the generated map.
