Patent number: 10754418Abstract: Parts of the body of a user can be used as surfaces for rendering content, such as augmented reality (AR) content. A computing device executing an AR application can detect body parts in an augmented reality view, such as a hand within a field of view of a camera capturing image data for the application. A type of content to be displayed can be determined based on the type and orientation of the body part, in addition to the location and orientation of the device. The content can vary with changes in the orientation of the body part or motion to cause another body part to be visible. A user can make a selection or input for the content by contacting the surface of the body part onto which the content is projected, providing tactile feedback to the user as well as a determinable action for the device.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2018Date of Patent: August 25, 2020Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Chase Ruppert, Michelle Abraham, Pratik Patel

Publication number: 20200226295Abstract: A voltage detection circuit includes a tunable delay circuit that receives a supply voltage and that generates a delayed signal in response to an input signal. A control circuit causes a first adjustment in a delay provided by the tunable delay circuit to the delayed signal. An error detection circuit generates an error indication in an error signal in response to a change in a timing of the delayed signal relative to a clock signal caused by the first adjustment in the delay provided to the delayed signal. The control circuit causes a second adjustment in the delay provided by the tunable delay circuit to the delayed signal in response to the error indication. The error detection circuit causes the error signal to be indicative of the supply voltage reaching a threshold voltage after the second adjustment in the delay.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2020Publication date: July 16, 2020Applicant: Intel CorporationInventors: Pratik Patel, Sriram Vangal, Patrick Koeberl, Miguel Bautista Gabriel, James Tschanz, Carlos Tokunaga

Patent number: 10607567Abstract: An environment map, such as a cube map, can be obtained for a scene that is appropriate for the current lighting state. A grayscale image representation is generated that represents physical objects visible in the scene. The grayscale representation is provided to a device for rendering AR content. A color lookup table (LUT) is generated for coloring the grayscale image representation. The color LUT can be appropriate for the current lighting conditions of the scene. As the lighting state changes, such as over the course of a day, different color LUTs can be sent to the device for purposes of updating the environment map. The grayscale image representation, once colored, can serve as an environment map for purposes of creating reflection effects on AR content to be rendered with respect to a live view of the scene.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2018Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Richard Schritter, Sidharth Moudgil, Pratik Patel

Publication number: 20200098420Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer programs are disclosed for refreshing a volatile memory. An embodiment of a method comprises storing, in a volatile memory device comprising a cell array having a plurality of rows with a correspond ng row address, a table specifying one of a data valid indicator and a data invalid indicator for each of the plurality of row addresses. The data valid indicator specifies that the corresponding row is in use, and the data invalid indicator specifies that the corresponding row is not in use. A memory controller initiates a refresh command. In response to the refresh command, the rows having the data valid indicator are refreshed while the rows having the data invalid indicator are skipped.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2018Publication date: March 26, 2020Inventors: Yanru Li, Dexter Chun, Pratik Patel

Publication number: 20200066851Abstract: Solid assemblies having a composite dielectric spacer and processes for fabricating the solid assemblies are provided. The composite dielectric spacer can include, in some embodiments, a first dielectric layer and a second dielectric layer having a mutual interface. The composite dielectric spacer can separate a contact member from a conductive interconnect member, thus reducing the capacitance between such members with respect to solid assemblies that include one of first dielectric layer or the second dielectric layer. The composite dielectric spacer can permit maintaining the real estate of an interface between the conductive interconnect and a trench contact member that has an interface with a carrier-doped epitaxial layer embodying or constituting a source contact region or a drain contact region of a field effect transistor. The trench contact member can form another interface with the conductive interconnect member, providing a satisfactory contact resistance therebetween.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2016Publication date: February 27, 2020Inventors: Rishabh MEHANDRU, Pratik A. Patent number: 10559121Abstract: Realistic reflections can be generated for augmented reality content displayed with respect to a view of a physical scene. A device executing an AR application obtains a three dimensional representation of the scene. The representation is used to determine surface orientation information for various physical objects in the physical scene, indicating how incident light would be reflected from those surfaces. The device can also use an infrared detector or transceiver to obtain an infrared view of the scene. The infrared data can be analyzed to determine the reflectivity of the various surfaces in the scene. Utilizing the surface orientation and reflectivity data, reflections from various AR content rendered for the scene can be determined. The corresponding pixels of the live view of the scene can then be color adjusted to account for the reflection, or an overlay can be generated that simulates the color adjustment for the reflection.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2018Date of Patent: February 11, 2020Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Sidharth Moudgil, Pratik Patel, Richard Schritter

Publication number: 20190355811Abstract: A semiconductor device is described that includes a first semiconductor layer conformally disposed on at least a portion of a source region and a second semiconductor layer conformally disposed on at least a portion of a drain region between the source/drain regions and corresponding gate spacers. The semiconductor layer can prevent diffusion and/or segregation of dopants from the source and drain regions into the gate spacers of the gate stack. Maintaining the intended location of dopant atoms in the source region and drain region improves the electrical characteristics of the semiconductor device including the external resistance (“Rext”) of the semiconductor device.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 18, 2018Publication date: November 21, 2019Applicant: INTEL CORPORATIONInventors: Rishabh Mehandru, Anupama Bowonder, Biswajeet Guha, Tahir Ghani, Stephen M. Patent number: 10410425Abstract: The position of a virtual object in a scene, such as a scene of augmented reality (AR) content to be rendered, can be adjusted at least in part using pressure input. A user can apply varying amounts of pressure to a pressure sensor, for example, to control a distance between the virtual object and a virtual camera rendering a current view of the scene. An increase in pressure can increase the distance, or cause the object to move “away” from the user, while a decrease in pressure can decrease that distance, causing the virtual object to move “toward” the user. An acceleration function can be used to control the movement, to provide more accurate and user-friendly position control. Smoothing can be applied to the pressure data to reduce the presence of noise or jitter in the data. Other inputs can be used to control lateral movements or rotations.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2017Date of Patent: September 10, 2019Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Pratik Patel

Publication number: 20180192137Abstract: A method and system for predicting a media asset that the user will consume during a specific timeslot are described herein. The prediction may be made by identifying for a timeslot those media assets that may be of interest to a user. A determination may be made which of those media assets are first run episodes of their respective series. For each series, episodes associated with the previous season of the respective series may be identified and compared with media assets that the user has consumed. Based on that comparison, an amount of first run episodes for the previous season of each respective series the user has consumed may be determined and based on those amounts, a predication may be made of which media asset the user will consume during the timeslot.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 27, 2017Publication date: July 5, 2018Inventors: Pratik Patel, Margret B.
