Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for a network controller. The method receives network configuration data including an association of an entity configuration profile to a logical entity group that references at least two logical network entities. The entity configuration profile includes a set of configuration settings to apply to logical network entities with which the entity configuration profile is associated. The method associates the entity configuration profile with the logical network entities referenced by the logical entity group. Based on the associations of the entity configuration profile with the logical network entities, the method determines multiple host machines that require the configuration data for the entity configuration profile. The method distributes the entity configuration profile to the host machines.

Abstract: A lock rack contains: a case, a support mounting, and a movable press rod. The case includes a locking orifice. The support mounting includes a first extending fixer and a second extending fixer which are rotatably connected with the case and are meshed with each other, the first extending fixer has a first engagement portion for engaging with a first corner of a lower end of the portable electronic device, and a second extending fixer has a second engagement portion for engaging with a second corner of the lower end of the portable electronic device. The movable press rod is inserted into the case and includes a retainer configured to retain with an upper end of the portable electronic device.

Abstract: Example methods are provided for filter-based control information query in a software-defined networking (SDN) environment that includes a host and a network management entity. One example method may comprise identifying a first query key for the host to query for control information associated with the first query key from the network management entity; and applying a set membership filter to determine whether the first query key is possibly a member of a set of second query keys that are known to the network management entity. The method may also comprise, in response to determination that the first query key is possibly a member of the set of second query keys, generating and sending a query message to the network management entity over a control-plane channel to query for the control information associated with the first query key.

Abstract: Novel thermoplastic polyhydroxyether-based compositions for use as a laser-releasable composition for temporary bonding and laser debonding processes are provided. The inventive compositions can be debonded using various UV lasers, leaving behind little to no debris. The layers formed from these compositions possess good thermal stabilities and are soluble in commonly-used organic solvents (e.g., cyclopentanone). The compositions can also be used as build-up layers for RDL formation.

Abstract: An inhaler for powdered medicaments is provided. It consists of a substantially smoking pipe-shaped hollow body that has a first portion, for housing a cartridge of powdered medicament, and a second portion for delivering the medicament by means of an airstream that carries the powder from an inner drop region along a delivery duct whose end is suitable to be placed in a patient's mouth, the intake of the air being achieved through at least three air intakes arranged symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal midplane of the inhaler, which includes a support base for the cartridge in which oriented flow channels are formed that extend between the three air intakes and the inner powder drop region.

Abstract: A translation system can translate a storage request to a physical address using fields as keys to traverse a map of nodes with node entries. A node entry can include a link to a next node or a physical address. Using a portion of the key as noted in node metadata, a node entry can be determined. When adding node entries to a node, a node utilization can exceed a threshold value. A new node can be created such that node entries are split between the original and new node. Node metadata of the parent node, new node and original node can be revised to identify which parts of the key are used to identify a node entry. When removing node entries from a node, node utilization can cross a minimum threshold value. Node entries from the node can be merged with a sibling, or the map can be rebalanced.

Abstract: An integrated fiber-ferrule useable as an optical coupling element includes a core directly contacting a cladding layer that has a lower index of refraction than that of the core, without an intervening adhesive. The cladding layer outer diameter is at least 100 times greater than that of the core, and matches an outer diameter of a standard ferrule. The integrated fiber-ferrule may be produced by drawing a glass preform into a cane, cutting the cane into sections, and shaping end faces of the cut sections (e.g., using a laser). To form a fiber optic assembly, a front end of an optical fiber core may be fusion spliced to a rear end of the core of the integrated fiber-ferrule. Use of an integrated fiber-ferrule permits reduction of core to fiber eccentricity, and reduction of connector insertion losses.

Abstract: A storage device, infrastructure, and associated method for managing request queue to reduce read tail latencies. A disclosed storage device is disclosed that includes: a set of flash memory chips; and a controller that schedules request from a host using a set of request queues, wherein the controller includes a queue manager that: reorders high priority read requests over low priority write requests in each request queue; suspends low priority write requests to process high priority read requests; and limits a number of low priority write requests allowed in each request queue to a threshold value smaller than a size of each request queue.

Abstract: A label-free resonant waveguide grating biosensor imager system for measuring beat patterns and dynamic mass redistribution (DMR) signals of cultured cardiomyocytes in the absence and presence of a drug molecule. The disclosure also provides a method using the imager system for analyzing the beat patterns and the DMR signals of the cardiomyocytes to assess drug-induced cardiotoxicity.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a narrow band slot antenna with a coupling suppression. The slot antenna includes a medium plate (1), a copper-clad layer (2), an A-capacitor (3), and a B-capacitor (4). The copper-clad layer (2) has an A-slot (21) and a B-slot (22) thereon, the A-capacitor (3) and the B-capacitor (4) are respectively mounted inside and at two ends of the B-slot (22). The present invention loads the capacitors at a specific position on a finite medium plate to increase the isolation between the antennas, which is beneficial to rectify the slot antenna.

Abstract: A system and method to screen for malignant gliomas, other brain tumors, and brain injuries use disturbance coefficient, differential impedances, and artificial neural networks. The system uses prescribed excitation signals with several system configurations to measure the differential impedances, calculate harmonic responses and nonlinearity of brain tissue, and estimate the disturbance coefficient that indicates the likelihood of malignant gliomas, other brain tumors, and brain injuries. The disturbance coefficient is a weighted sum of many parameters such as receiving differential impedances, transmission differential impedances, harmonic responses, frequency dispersion, and nonlinear responses using different system configurations and different excitation signals. The method includes arranging the transmitters, receivers, and transmission lines to maximize the sensitivity of detecting brain tissue condition.

Abstract: A system and method of implementing distributed metadata checkpointing in a storage device. A storage device is disclosed that includes storage device that employs distributed metadata checkpointing, including: flash memory; and a controller that collects metadata checkpoints and includes: a checkpoint partitioner that partitions a metadata checkpoint into a set of segments; and a segment loader that stores each segment of the set of segments into a spare region of a corresponding different flash memory pages during a write operation of data to flash memory.

Abstract: An infrastructure, method and controller card for managing flash memory in a storage infrastructure. A system is provided that includes flash memory; and a controller that includes: an I/O request handler for handling standard read and write (R/W) operations requested from a host; a garbage collection (GC) system that performs a GC process on the flash memory in response to a threshold condition, wherein the GC process includes GC-induced R/W operations; and a scheduler that interleaves standard R/W operations with GC-induced R/W operations, wherein the scheduler calculates minimum and maximum boundaries for GC-induced R/W operations for a GC process based on an estimated GC latency.

Abstract: A storage infrastructure and method for efficiently handing block I/O requests. An infrastructure is described that includes flash memory and a controller that includes: a two dimensional (2D) linked list structure for temporarily storing BIO requests, wherein each BIO request specifies a set of LBAs and wherein the 2D linked list structure includes N vertical linked lists; a BIO request loader that applies a hash function to each LBA in a received BIO request to associate each LBA to one of N hash values, and loads the received BIO request into a horizontal linked list in the 2D linked list structure in which each LBA resides within a vertical linked list based on an associated hash values; and a linked list manager that determines which LBAs in the 2D linked list structure are eligible for processing and when a horizontal linked list can be removed.

Abstract: A system, method and program product for implementing an LSM tree data store in a storage infrastructure. A system is disclosed having: a system for handling read requests and write requests using a key-value pair index to store and retrieve data in an LSM data store; and a compaction manager that reorganizes data in the LSM data store using: a partition system that (a) partitions a first level file into a set of subfiles when a partition threshold is exceeded, and (b) stores the subfiles from the first level file in an intermediate level between the first level and a second level, wherein the subfiles are partitioned by range to correspond with files in the second level; and a merge system that merges a group of files comprising a second level file with one or more corresponding subfiles when a merge threshold is exceeded.

Abstract: A translation system can translate a storage request having multiple fields to a physical address using the fields as keys to traverse a map. The map can be made of nodes that include one or more node entries. The node entries can be stored in a hashed storage area or sorted storage area of a node. A hashed storage area can enable a quick lookup of densely addressed information by using a portion of the key to determine a location of a node entry. A sorted storage area can enable compact storage of sparse information by storing node entries that currently exist and allowing the entries to be searched. By offering both types of storage in a node, a node can be optimized for both dense and sparse information. A node entry can include a link to a next node or the physical address for the storage request.

Abstract: An apparatus for removing at least one coating from a lengthwise section of an optical fiber includes a heater extending at least partially around and at least partially defining an elongate heating region configured for receiving the lengthwise section of the optical fiber. The heater can heat the heating region to a temperature above the thermal decomposition temperature of the at least one coating. A controller automatically deactivates the heater after removal of the at least one coating from the lengthwise section of the optical fiber in the heating region. Thereafter, an air mover can cause ambient air to cool the heater.

Abstract: A system and method for scheduling at least one event includes a component module arranged to receive component data regarding a plurality of possible operation decisions, a modelling module arranged to utilise the plurality of operation decisions to construct a Petri net model to simulate a real world system, a scheduling module arranged to utilise the Petri net and variable data regarding the plurality of operation decisions to determine a schedule of events that is feasible subject to a set of predetermined constraints, and an operation module arranged to provide the schedule of events to at least one external device.
