    Abstract: A spot size conversion apparatus and a related device are provided. The spot size conversion apparatus includes a vertical spot size converter. The vertical spot size converter includes N geometric waveguides. A space between any two adjacent geometric waveguides is filled with a filling material. Each of the N geometric waveguides includes an incident surface and an emergent surface. The refractive index of the filling material is less than the refractive indices of the two adjacent geometric waveguides. Geometric feature sizes between respective incident surfaces and respective emergent surfaces of the N geometric waveguides gradually decrease in a first direction. The vertical spot size converter is configured to receive a first electromagnetic wave signal, perform vertical spot size processing on the first electromagnetic wave signal using the N geometric waveguides, and output a second electromagnetic wave signal.

The modified layer is formed on the negative electrode, the positive electrode and/or the separator of the lithium-based battery by using the precursor solution through photo-polymerization reaction or thermal curing. The lithium-based battery comprising the modified layer effectively promotes the charge and discharge capability, cycling life, and safety. The modified layer can be applied to a roll-to-roll process. The formation of lithium dendrites in the lithium-based battery comprising the modified layer is significantly suppressed or reduced during the charge-discharge cycles. The shuttle effect is effectively suppressed or reduced in lithium sulfur batteries and lithium iodine batteries. All the above effects are beneficial to increasing the product value of lithium ion batteries, lithium metal batteries, anode-free lithium batteries, lithium sulfur batteries, and lithium iodine batteries.

The ESA steering input is maintained, modified, or canceled based on the score.     Abstract: This document describes techniques and systems for selecting a parking space using a probabilistic approach. An example system includes a processor that can determine whether multiple parking spaces are available in proximity to a host vehicle using sensor data. Parking-space characteristics (e.g., a width, entry turning radius, and longitudinal distance to the parking space) of each available parking space are determined using the sensor data. The processor can then choose a selected parking space among the multiple parking spaces based on the parking-space characteristics. The processor or another processor can then control the host vehicle to park in the selected parking space using an assisted-driving or autonomous-driving system. In this way, the described system can select and navigate to a parking space using a probabilistic approach. The processor can choose the parking space and parking maneuver based on programmable and customizable parking-space characteristics in some implementations.
