  • Publication number: 20100013935
Abstract: A tracking system having a video detector for associating observations of blobs and objects and deriving objects' or blobs' paths. Hypotheses may be computed by the system for merging, splitting and reacquisition of the observations. There may be objects tracked among the observations, and best paths selected as trajectories of corresponding objects. The observations may be placed in a sliding window containing a series of observations inferred from a collection of frames for improving the accuracy of the tracking (or data association). The processed observations and data may be represented graphically.

  • Patent number: 7627031
Abstract: An apparatus and method for adaptively introducing a compensating signal latency related to a signal latency of a data symbol decision circuit. Adaptive timing control circuitry, including an interpolating mixer implemented as a tapped delay line with correlated tap coefficients, introduces a latency adaptively and substantially matching the latency of the data decision circuit for use within an adaptive equalizer, thereby minimizing the mean-squared error of such decision circuit. This adaptive latency is used in generating the feedback error signal which, in turn, can be used by the feedforward equalizer for dynamically adjusting its adaptive filter tap coefficients.

  • Publication number: 20090107409
Abstract: A device for the transport, introduction, and acclimation of fish. The device, a bag comprising a window of dialysis membrane, allows fish to be transported within the bag and acclimated to new saline environments by allowing solutes, mainly salt and hydrogen ions, to slowly equilibrate between water within the bag and water in the source environment so as to avoid shock to the fish. Although the majority of the bag is impermeable to solutes, the dialysis membrane window is not, and is size dependent based on the characteristics of the fish to be acclimated. In use, the fish is placed in the bag along with source water from the source of the organism. The bag is then immersed in the destination aquarium, and passive diffusion allows the slow transport of solutes across the semi-permeable dialysis membrane, slowly equalizing the water parameters inside and outside the bag. After an appropriate amount of time has passed, the occupants of the container are removed and placed in the new environment.

  • Patent number: 7421022
Abstract: A continuous time electronic dispersion compensation architecture using feed forward equalization and a non-linear decision feedback equalization forms an output signal by a linear combination of successively delayed versions of the input signal and the sliced output signal weighted by appropriate coefficients. A selected number of taps in the mixer used to generate a corresponding number of coefficients for use in the feed forward equalizer are held to a selected voltage to ensure that the coefficients associated with these two taps do not drift. This causes the other coefficients to converge to a unique minimum square error value. In one embodiment the selected voltage is the maximum system voltage.

  • Patent number: 7394849
Abstract: A decision feedback equalizer with dynamic feedback control for use in an adaptive signal equalizer. Timing within the decision feedback loop is dynamically controlled to optimize recovery of the data signal by the output signal slicer. The dynamic timing is controlled by a signal formed as a combination of feedback and feedforward signals. The feedback signal is an error signal related to a difference between pre-slicer and post-slicer signals. The feedforward signal is formed by differentiating and delaying the incoming data signal.

  • Publication number: 20080123900
Abstract: A tracking system that may initially take image sequences from sensors and regions of interest computed automatically, or defined by the operator, or provided by another approach or way. Tracklets may be initialized from the provided regions of interest. The tracklets of the same target may be associated with each other to form another tracklet of another level. Tracklets may be merged to form tracks. Association of tracklets or tracks may be effected at various levels in a hierarchical manner. Also, association of observations, tracklets and tracks may be based on a computation of distance, i.e., similarity in motion and appearance.

  • Patent number: 7352697
Abstract: Fractional or fuzzy time stamp values are used during processing network traffic. Handling fractional time stamp values permits scaling down of time stamp values, so that fewer bits, and memory, are needed to store each fractional time stamp value. According to a specific technique, departure times are set based on a quantity X plus Y/Z, where X is an integer, Y is a numerator, and Z is a denominator. The departure times are synchronized with the ideal departure times after (Z*X+Y) time units. A technique is provided to reduce cell delay variation.

  • Publication number: 20080038000
Abstract: A multi-wavelength optical signal copropagates through a fiber-optic communication link with a continuous-wave ancillary wavelength having an unknown state of polarization (SOP), which is scrambled periodically in time. The instantaneous value of polarization dependent loss (PDL) in the ancillary wavelength is monitored in real time, and is used as an error signal to adjust at least one polarization controller. Polarization scrambling is performed by periodically changing the SOP with time, such that the polarization-scrambled optical signal covers approximately an entire Poincaré sphere surface, preferably uniformly, during each time period. At an optical node between fibers, an adjustable PDL compensator contains two ordered pairs each consisting of one polarization controller and one optical element introducing fixed PDL.
