  • Publication number: 20160035316
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide for hiding information in an image. A first pixel point and a second pixel point that are adjacent in an image are extracted. A first sub-pixel of the first pixel point and a second sub-pixel of the second pixel point that are to be combined during display on a display device are determined, wherein the display device determines a combined pixel value according to pixel values of the first sub-pixel and the second sub-pixel in a predefined manner. Information is hidden using parity properties of a sum of pixel values of the first sub-pixel and the second sub-pixel while the combined pixel value determined according to pixel values of the first sub-pixel and the second sub-pixel in the predefined manner is kept unchanged. By using unique display characteristics of a display device, information is hidden in an image without changing display effect of the image on the display device.

  • Patent number: 9231709
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus are described that employ specially designed interference patterns to build an in-band side channel without degrading the effective throughput of the main channel. A first device (100) includes a control component (130) that generates control information and an interference component (140) that transmits the control information (450) through emission of patterned interference data concurrently while other users are transmitting other data (420). A second device (300) receives the patterned interference data and the other data via a single antenna (350) and decodes the patterned interference data to extract the control data (450). The first device (100) transmits the other data (420) on a side channel (440) that resides in the same spectrum as the main channel (410) in which the other data (420) is emitted. The first device (100) encodes the interference patterns such that the control data (450) can be safely transmitted and extracted without effecting other data transmission.

Abstract: The present invention provides a display substrate, a mother substrate for display substrates and a display device. The display substrate comprises a display area and a non-display area surrounding the display area, wherein an alignment layer is disposed in the display area and the non-display area. In the display substrate according to the present invention, by providing the same pattern of alignment layer in both of the non-display area and the display area of the display substrate, the Mura defect caused by the difference of surface roughness between the display area and the non-display area of the display substrate may be significantly reduced, and a large amount of small foreign matters gathered due to the rubbing between the rubbing cloth and metal residuals may also be significantly reduced. Therefore, the yield of production and the quality of products may be improved.

  • Publication number: 20150304709
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for predicting subjective quality of a video contained in a bit stream on a packet layer. Header information of the bit-stream is parsed and frame layer information, such as frame type, is estimated. Visible artifact levels are then estimated based on frame layer information. An overall artifact level and quality metric are estimated based on artifact levels for individual frames with other parameters. Specifically, different weighting factors are used for different frame types when estimating the levels of initial visible artifacts and propagated visible artifacts. The number of slices per frame is used as a parameter when estimating the overall artifact level for the video. Moreover, the quality assessment model considers quality loss caused by both coding and channel artifacts.

  • Publication number: 20150215497
Abstract: A system synchronizes one or more media streams, such as video stream or audio streams, by embedding frame identifiers in each compressed media stream, and then by using synchronizing signals to render each frame simultaneously by referencing the embedded frame identifier. Since the frame identifier is embedded in between encoded frames of the compressed media stream without altering any of the compressed, encoded data, the frame identifier information could be rapidly embedded without creating lag associated with manipulating existing data. This technique could be used, for example, to synchronize a single HD video on a plurality of display devices (e.g. a football game on a wall of video monitors), or to synchronize a plurality of HD video streams on a single display device (e.g. a plurality of live video feeds on a single computer monitor).
