Publication number: 20080121247Abstract: A thickset artificial nail tip device has two regions, including a well region that may be affixed to and blend in with a portion of a natural nail bed of a wearer, and a thicker body region that may extend beyond the natural nail bed of a wearer. The thicker body region may include a single color or multicolor design and may help to eliminate a need for applying acrylic materials on top of the artificial nail tip. In one embodiment, the well region is absent, so that the thickset artificial nail tip device may be used on a long natural nail bed. The thickset artificial nail tip device may eliminate the need for applying acrylic materials on top of an artificial nail tip and reduce the amount of filing time required after application of an artificial nail tip, thereby making the application of an artificial nail tip to a natural nail bed fast and easy.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 27, 2006Publication date: May 29, 2008Inventor: Quy Le Tran

Patent number: 6781266Abstract: The counterplate and/or sleeve are modified to reduce or eliminate distortion in the counterplate in a laser welded fluid bearing design. It is known to directly weld the counterplate which lies across the end of the shaft and the thrust plate to a wall or shoulder of the sleeve in which the counterplate is fit. The radial stiffness of the sleeve is weakened by cutting grooves or the like at or near the interface between the sleeve wall and the counterplate, or on the outer diameter of the sleeve wall to essentially weaken the sleeve wall. This weakening of the sleeve wall prevents bowing or distortion of the counterplate being imposed by the sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2001Date of Patent: August 24, 2004Assignee: Seagate Technology LLCInventors: Lynn Bich-Quy Le, Donald J. Macleod, Anthony J. Aiello

Patent number: 6746151Abstract: A fluid dynamic bearing includes a shaft and a sleeve which are supported for relative rotation by fluid in the gap therebetween. A capillary seal at one end of the bearing prevents fluid from leaking out. The seal is defined between the hub and the sleeve, which are in relative rotation, and diverge from one another in the region where the capillary seal is established. The gap which is incorporated in the capillary seal is in airway communication with the gap between the shaft and the sleeve; but the capillary seal is defined by an outer surface of the sleeve and is substantially parallel to the gap between the shaft and the sleeve. The capillary seal is radially spaced from the region where one of two journal bearing groove sets is defined. The grooves sets may be located so that they are balanced about the center of gravity of the system.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2002Date of Patent: June 8, 2004Assignee: Seagate Technology LLCInventors: Lynn Bich-Quy Le, Chris Michael Woldemar
