  • Publication number: 20120310948
Abstract: A method, system, and article are provided for evaluating regular expressions over large data collections. A general purpose index is built to handle complex regular expressions at the character level. Characters, character classes, and associated metadata are identified and stored in an index of a collection of documents. Given a regular expression, a query is generated based on the contents of the index. This query is executed over the index to identify a set of documents in the collection of documents over which the regular expression can be evaluated. Based upon the query execution, the identified set of documents is returned for evaluation by the regular expression responsive to execution of the query over the index.

  • Publication number: 20120303720
Abstract: Improved techniques of fulfilling a request to perform a task involve a master computer placing the request in a first queue and a copy of the request in a second queue, the second queue being frequently accessed by a set of worker computers which rapidly scans the second queue for requests to fulfill. If, during the scanning, a worker computer determines that it has a capability to fulfill the request, the worker computer removes the copy of the request from the second queue. Furthermore, if the copy of the request remains in the second queue after a brief time period, it is clear that the set of worker computers is unable to perform the task. In this case, the master computer takes a remedial action such as notifying a client computer which sent the request that the worker computers, as currently configured, are unable to perform the task.

  • Patent number: 8317464
Abstract: A reverse flow tolerant brush seal arrangement for restricting the transfer of a pressurized fluid between a first and a second chamber along a moving shaft. Opposing backing plates are provided to stiffen brush bristle alignment on the moving shaft. Differential pressure between the chambers is aided by spring biasing to seat axial movement of a sliding brush seal against one of the opposing backing plates for stiffening to maintain a design clearance with a shaft being sealed.

  • Publication number: 20120284564
Abstract: An automation process verifies that a test bed includes a set of devices specified by at least one script which are to be executed by the automation process on the test bed. The test bed is locked and the set of devices is allocated to the automation process. Performance data collection and logging for the set of devices is started and the at least one script is executed on the set of devices. After executing the at least one script, the set of devices is de-allocated and the test bed is unlocked. A notification is generated indicating that the at least one script has been executed.

  • Publication number: 20120264416
Abstract: In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) determines that a client application has entered a period of transmission inactivity whereby the UE will not be required to transmit data on behalf of the client application. The UE selectively transmits a transmission inactivity notification to an access network (AN) to notify the AN of the transmission inactivity period. The AN receives the transmission inactivity notification and determines to transition the UE from a first state to a second state based at least in part on the received transmission inactivity notification, the second state associated with lower-power consumption of the UE than the first state. The AN sends instructions to the UE to facilitate the transition of the UE from the first state to the second state. In another embodiment, the AN can send instructions to the UE to prohibit the UE from sending transmission inactivity notifications.

  • Patent number: 8259588
Abstract: A gateway is described that performs processing of communications by employing a series of service interceptors. The interceptors can be registered in the gateway by using a configuration file. Once registered, the interceptors can be invoked in a particular sequence for the requests coming into the gateway. Each interceptor can deny the request, allow the request, abstain from processing the request and pass the request to the next interceptor specified by the sequence. The interceptors can also modify the various data associated with the request. There can be dependencies between multiple interceptors. In addition, new custom interceptors can be created and registered at the gateway to process incoming requests.

  • Publication number: 20120084422
Abstract: An article including at least one computer readable medium storing a network management application comprising computer executable code that upon execution by one or more processors causes the one or more processors to receive and execute the computer executable code of the network management application to store an identifier indicative of a candidate service in a database, receive the information indicative of managed entities from the one or more input devices, transform the data indicative of the managed entities into neutral data structure represented by graphs, vertices and edges, store these neutral data structures in the database and determine whether the telecommunication network is configured to execute the candidate service by applying predetermined rules on these neutral data structures.

  • Publication number: 20120084756
Abstract: Consistent with the present disclosure, a block of software code or “software code block” that is executed while particular tests are carried out is assigned a software code block identifier, which is associated with test identifiers, which, in turn, identify the tests that were performed. The software code block identifiers and corresponding test identifiers are then stored in a database. When a portion of the software code block is later modified, either by a change to one or more lines of the code or by deleting or adding code, the corresponding software code block identifier is determined or selected, and then used to access the corresponding test identifiers from the database. The test identifiers are then used to generate a report, for example, that lists each test to be performed in order to determine whether the modified software code block operates properly.

  • Publication number: 20120027582
Abstract: A packing ring assembly for use between a rotating and a stationary component in a turbomachine is disclosed, the assembly including an arcuate packing ring casing, an arcuate packing ring segment positioned at least partially within the packing ring casing, and a resistance component configured to allow movement of the packing ring segment in an axial direction, relative to the rotating component, between a first and second position in response to a pressure condition. In one embodiment, the resistance component allows movement when the pressure condition comprises approximately 30% of the turbomachine load. Also disclosed is an altered surface topography of the rotating component to accommodate variable length teeth extending from the packing ring segment, such that when the packing ring segment is in the first position, a clearance between the packing ring segment and the rotating component is larger than when the packing ring segment is in the second position.

  • Publication number: 20120020246
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, devices and methods for improving the efficient deployment and configuration of networking equipment within a network build-out. In certain embodiments of the invention, an iterative analysis of inter-node equipment placement and connectivity, and inter- and intra-node traffic flow is performed to identify a preferred deployment solution. This analysis of deployment optimization takes into account both configurations from a network node perspective as well as from a network system perspective. Deployment solutions are iteratively progressed and analyzed to determine a preferred solution based on both the cost of deployment and satisfaction of the network demands. In various embodiments of the invention, a baseline marker is generated from which the accuracy of the solution may be approximated that suggests to an engineer whether the deployment is approaching an optimal solution.

  • Patent number: 8103705
Abstract: A text annotation structured storage system stores text annotations with associated type information in a structured data store. The present system persists or stores annotations in a structured data store in an indexable and queryable format. Exemplary structured data stores comprise XML databases and relational databases. The system exploits type information in a type system to develop corresponding schemas in a structured data model. The system comprises techniques for mapping annotations to an XML data model and a relational data model. The system captures various features of the type system, such as complex types and inheritance, in the schema for the persistent store. In particular, the repository provides support for path navigation over the hierarchical type system starting at any type.

  • Publication number: 20110321011
Abstract: An application server is described for development of telecommunications-based software applications. The application server provides a protocol-neutral programming model for application developers. Rather than having to account for specific protocol entry points into the server, all interactions in the server are abstracted as asynchronous events through the event broker layer. State management and concurrency are implemented as an actor-based model, where each actor owns its own segment of state and other actors wishing to update that state send asynchronous events to the owner. Thus, any communication in the various protocols can be expressed as an asynchronous event passed to, from and between the actors, who are each responsible for maintaining their own segment of state locally.
