  • Patent number: 7112763
Abstract: A rapid thermal processing (RTP) system including a transmission pyrometer monitoring the temperature dependent absorption of the silicon wafer for radiation from the RTP lamps at a reduced power level. A look-up table is created relating unnormalized values of photodetector photocurrents with wafer and radiant lamp temperatures. A calibrating step measures the photocurrent with known wafer and lamp temperatures and all photocurrents measured thereafter are accordingly normalized. The transmission pyrometer may be used for closed loop control for thermal treatments below 500° C. or used in the pre-heating phase for a higher temperature process including radiation pyrometry in closed loop control. The pre-heating temperature ramp rate may be controlled by measuring the initial ramp rate and readjusting the lamp power accordingly. Radiation and transmission pyrometers may be included in an integrated structure with a beam splitter dividing radiation from the wafer.

  • Patent number: 7099873
Abstract: An intermediate content transcoder. An intermediate content transcoder can include a communicative receiver configured to receive master content while in transit from a content source to at least one content sink in a content distribution network, and a communicative transmitter configured to transmit transcoded content to one or more of the content sinks. A set of content transformations also can be provided. Furthermore, the intermediate content transcoder can include a set of conditions for selecting individual ones of the content transformations to be applied to master content received through the communicative receiver. Finally, the intermediate content transcoder can include a transcoder configured to apply the selected individual ones of the content transformations to the master content. The application of the content transformations can produce transcoded content. The communicative transmitter, in turn, can forward the produced transcoded content to one or more of the content sinks.

  • Patent number: 7100029
Abstract: Performing repeat string operations can include aligning a source data location or a destination data location to a location divisible by a predetermined integer, the aligning including performing a string operation using data having a size equal to the operand size. After aligning, a string operation can be performed using data having a size larger than the operand size. Performing repeat string operations can include issuing a first predetermined number of iterations if an operand size is a predetermined size, and issuing a second predetermined number of iterations otherwise. Performing repeat string operations can include determining that a requested number of iterations in a repeat string operation is within a predetermined multi-number range and issuing exactly the requested number of iterations for any value of the requested number within that range.

  • Patent number: 7001748
Abstract: Linking sequences which modulate cross-talk between modules of Type I polyketide synthases have been identified. Thus, arbitrarily chosen modules can be mixed and matched by supplying the appropriate linkers to obtain desired polyketide synthases and new polyketides. The modules are provided suitable linkers so that the polyketide chain is passed from one module to the other in the correct sequence. Synthetic peptides which mimic linkers can be used to inhibit the synthesis of polyketides. Kinetic channeling, both intrapolypeptide and interpolypeptide, of diketide intermediates in a Type I polyketide synthase can occur.

  • Patent number: 6985936
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for addressing the name space mismatch between content caching systems (which use Uniform Resource Locators, or “URLs”) and content servers (which use file and path names). A file name-to-URL mapping is created for use by content caching systems, and data in protocol response messages (and optionally in protocol request messages) is augmented to transmit information for use in creating this mapping, enabling a content caching system to automatically and dynamically populate its file name-to-URL mapping. By having the file name available, the caching system can now respond to content management messages which identify the cached content by only the content's associated file name.

  • Patent number: 6944745
Abstract: Processing a micro-operation may include providing information to an event handler indicating which of multiple sets of data caused events during processing of a single instruction on multiple sets of data in parallel. The event handler may access the provided information to simplify handling of data sets that did not cause an event. Handling the data sets may include the event handler determining a result for data sets that caused events, accessing results determined outside of the event handler for data sets that did not cause an event, and accumulating all of the results.

  • Patent number: 6931249
Abstract: To address the need for an apparatus and method for handoff from a cellular wireless network to a non-cellular wireless network (WLAN, e.g.), the present application describes an access gateway (214) and a dual mode mobile station (201) that enable such handoffs. The MS provides information to the access gateway so that it can initiate a handoff with the serving cellular MSC (251). By triggering handoffs in this manner, cellular networks need not have special information about non-cellular networks to support handoffs. Instead, dual mode MSs can determine when a handoff to a non-cellular network is preferred and request a handin (302) from the non-cellular network.

The access gateway provides information to the MS (304) so that it can initiate a handoff through the serving cellular network. Triggering handoffs in this manner, allows cellular networks to handle handoffs to non-cellular networks in much the same way they handle inter-MSC handoffs today, i.e., source initiated.

  • Patent number: 6855909
Abstract: A nozzle comprising a thin, flexible substantially planar polymeric film having a plurality of pores with structures allowing for generation of an aerosol at reduced extrusion pressure is disclosed. The pores can comprise at least two sections, or steps, in which the thickness of the membrane is reduced in stepwise fashion, or the pores can be tapered. Nozzles formed comprising pores having such structures permit aerosol generation at lower extrusion pressures, thereby allowing for decreased weight of aerosolization devices, increased efficiency, increased portability and increased battery life. The pore structures also allow for the use of thicker, more easily processed polymeric films in manufacturing while having a thinner, more efficient aerosolization area. The use of decreased extrusion pressures also results in increased uniformity in aerosol generation and improved reliability of other components.

  • Patent number: 6832268
Abstract: A forwarding device compares a first address from a first coherent input/output (I/O) transaction with an address from at least one processor-issued transaction to determine if an address conflict exists. The forwarding device completes a first processor-issued transaction of the at least one processor-issued transaction if the address conflict exists and rejects the first coherent I/O transaction. The forwarding device holds remaining processor transactions of the at least one processor-issued transaction that have an address conflict with the first address of the first coherent I/O transaction. The forwarding device transmits the first coherent I/O transaction to an external I/O device, waits for the first coherent I/O transaction to return from the external I/O device, and completes the first coherent I/O transaction. The forwarding device releases the remaining processor transactions once the first coherent I/O transaction has been completed.

  • Publication number: 20040249777
Abstract: Apparatus and method for determining a likely cause or the likelihood of the occurrence of a cause of one or more effects, in which training data relating to previously identified relationships between one or more causes and one or more effects is used to learn the cause and effect relationship. A number of primary and secondary reference points are chosen in the input space created by belief values representing the strength of effect. A Lagrange Interpolation polynomial (or other function representing the cause and effect relationship) and a weight value is associated with each of the said reference point. Weight values associated with primary reference points are considered as independent variables (primary weight values) and other weight values, which are associated with secondary reference points (secondary weight values), depend (preferably, but not necessarily, linearly) on one or more primary weight values.

  • Publication number: 20040243723
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture. A network communication request is received at an offload application, wherein the offload application interfaces with a first network stack implemented in an operating system and a second network stack implemented in a hardware device. A determination is made if the network communication request can be processed by the second network stack. If the network communication request can be processed by the second network stack, then the network communication request is offloaded for processing to the hardware device.
