  • Publication number: 20210019168
Abstract: The disclosure provides an approach for creating a pool of memory out of local memories of host machines, and providing that pool for the hosts to use. The pool is managed by a controller that keeps track of memory usage and allocated memory among hosts. The controller allocates or reclaims memory between hosts, as needed by the hosts. Memory allocated from a second host to a first host may then be divided into smaller portions by the first host, and further allocated to virtual machines executing within the first host.

  • Publication number: 20210021595
Abstract: Aspects described herein allow for systems and methods to monitor production changes to resources in a cloud computing environment and determine whether those changes were performed in accordance with a change management policy. A change order monitoring application receives data from cloud computing audit logs to detect infrastructure changes and combines that data with application information to determine which application was affected. The change order monitoring application then uses a machine learning algorithm to cluster multiple change events together when it is likely that the change events were part of the same change. If cluster of change activity does not appear to be authorized, the change order monitoring application sends an alert to a change management team and an application team to get more information about the activity.

  • Patent number: 10896168
Abstract: Some examples relate to performing application-defined object logging through a file system journal. In an example, a file system may determine during execution of an operation for an application whether a callback function is specified for the operation. In response to the determination, file system may invoke the callback function. File system may receive an object defined by the application. File system may link a copy of the object with a file system transaction associated with the operation in a journal of file system. File system may determine whether file system transaction is committed. In response to the determination, file system may write a copy of the object from the journal to an event log file. File system may allow the application to determine whether file system transaction is committed by enabling access to the event log file.

  • Patent number: 10895114
Abstract: A system and methodology facilitates the handling of oilfield materials in a space efficient manner. The oilfield materials are delivered without blowers to at least one modular silo. Each modular silo comprises an outer housing defining an enclosed interior. A vertical conveyor is positioned within the enclosed interior and is used to lift the oilfield material from a silo inlet to an upper portion of the modular silo without utilizing airflow to carry the oilfield materials. Once the oilfield materials are disposed within the upright modular silo, the outflow of oilfield materials through a silo outlet may be controlled so as to selectively release the desired amount of material into a blender or other suitable equipment.

  • Patent number: 10896104
Abstract: An illustrative “VM heartbeat monitoring network” of heartbeat monitor nodes monitors target VMs in a data storage management system. Accordingly, target VMs are distributed and re-distributed among illustrative worker monitor nodes according to preferences in an illustrative VM distribution logic. Worker heartbeat monitor nodes use an illustrative ping monitoring logic to transmit special-purpose heartbeat packets to respective target VMs and to track ping responses. If a target VM is ultimately confirmed failed by its worker monitor node, an illustrative master monitor node triggers an enhanced storage manager to initiate failover for the failed VM. The enhanced storage manager communicates with the heartbeat monitor nodes and also manages VM failovers and other storage management operations in the system. Special features for cloud-to-cloud failover scenarios enable a VM in a first region of a public cloud to fail over to a second region.
