  • Publication number: 20140253684
Abstract: A system and method for visualization of subsurface anatomy includes obtaining a first image from a first camera and a second image from a second camera or a second channel of the first camera, where the first and second images contain shared anatomical structures. The second camera and the second channel of the first camera are capable of imaging anatomy beneath the surface in ultra-violet, visual, or infra-red spectrum. A data processor is configured for computing registration of the first image to the second image to provide visualization of subsurface anatomy during surgical procedures. A visual interface displays the registered visualization of the first and second images. The system and method are particularly useful for imaging during minimally invasive surgery, such as robotic surgery.

Abstract: A sensor utilizing a non-leachable or diffusible redox mediator is described. The sensor includes a sample chamber to hold a sample in electrolytic contact with a working electrode, and in at least some instances, the sensor also contains a non-leachable or a diffusible second electron transfer agent. The sensor and/or the methods used produce a sensor signal in response to the analyte that can be distinguished from a background signal caused by the mediator. The invention can be used to determine the concentration of a biomolecule, such as glucose or lactate, in a biological fluid, such as blood or serum, using techniques such as coulometry, amperometry, and potentiometry. An enzyme capable of catalyzing the electrooxidation or electroreduction of the biomolecule is typically provided as a second electron transfer agent.

  • Patent number: 8832363
Abstract: In one embodiment, a clustered storage system is configured to reduce parity overhead of Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) groups, as well as to facilitate distribution and servicing of the storage containers among storage systems (nodes) of the cluster. The storage containers may be stored on one or more storage arrays of storage devices, such as solid state drives (SSDs), connected to the nodes of the cluster. The RAID groups may be formed from slices (i.e., portions) of storage spaces of the SSDs instead of the entire storage spaces of the SSDs. That is, each RAID group may be formed “horizontally” across a set of SSDs as slices (i.e., one slice of storage space from each SSD in the set). Accordingly, a plurality of RAID groups may co-exist (i.e., be stacked) on the same set of SSDs.

  • Publication number: 20140248461
Abstract: A process is described wherein pile yarn is woven with cotton weft and warp yarns to produce terry fabrics, such as towels. The fabric is then washed in warm water to dissolve the PVA fiber. The amount of fibers dissolved, depends upon the count of the yarn or yarns used. By dissolving the PVA fibers, a hollow air space is produced throughout the pile yarn, corresponding to an increase in the air space in the pile yarn. By increasing the in space in the pile yarn, the resulting towels are softer and bulkier than standard cotton towels. The present invention further relates to pile yarn in terry woven fabric (warp yarn), or weft yarn, in the case of flat fabrics.
