  • Publication number: 20140181985
Abstract: An electronic device may include multiple modules that share access to a common memory. The electronic device may include content access logic that selective allows a module to access target data in the memory. When writing data into the memory, the content access logic may determine an access restriction associated with the write data, where the access restriction specifies one or more modules that can access the write data. The content access logic may scramble the write date using an access key, and configure the access key such that only authorized modules can use the access key when retrieving data from the memory. The content access logic may then store the scrambled data in the memory.

  • Publication number: 20140174439
Abstract: A nozzle comprising a thin, flexible substantially planar polymeric film having a plurality of pores with structures allowing for generation of an aerosol at reduced extrusion pressure is disclosed. The pores can comprise at least two sections, or steps, in which the thickness of the membrane is reduced in stepwise fashion, or the pores can be tapered. Nozzles formed comprising pores having such structures permit aerosol generation at lower extrusion pressures, thereby allowing for decreased weight of aerosolization devices, increased efficiency, increased portability and increased battery life. The pore structures also allow for the use of thicker, more easily processed polymeric films in manufacturing while having a thinner, more efficient aerosolization area. The use of decreased extrusion pressures also results in increased uniformity in aerosol generation and improved reliability of other components.

  • Patent number: 8760660
Abstract: A process for predicting an amount of coarse flakes, such as metallic aluminum flakes, present in a coating composition, such as automotive paint. The process includes measuring flop of a layer of the coating composition applied over a test substrate by using a flop prediction device. The process is repeated with varying amounts of one or more different types of coarse flakes added to the composition and the flop vs. amount of coarse flakes present in the coating composition is plotted on a graph. By using a curve fitting equation, a flake amount prediction curve then is obtained. By measuring the flop of a wet layer of a target coating composition, the amount of coarse flakes present in the target coating composition can be predicted by using the flake amount prediction curve.

  • Publication number: 20140173594
Abstract: Embodiments provide an abstraction on top of virtual machine allocation APIs to expose scalable services. The services are higher level components that expose a particular set of functionalities. A deployment manager handles matching and managing virtual machine allocations in order to meet the customer demands for the managed services. A deployment service exposes a “service” as a unit of resource allocation in a distributed computing environment or cloud computing service. Client components interact with the deployment service to request new service instances to meet customer demand.

  • Publication number: 20140173198
Abstract: A data access request to a file system is decomposed into a plurality of lower-level I/O tasks. A logical combination of physical storage components is represented as a hierarchical set of objects. A parent I/O task is generated from a first object in response to the data access request. A child I/O task is generated from a second object to implement a portion of the parent I/O task. The parent I/O task is suspended until the child I/O task completes. The child I/O task is executed in response to an occurrence of an event that a resource required by the child I/O task is available. The parent I/O task is resumed upon an event indicating completion of the child I/O task. Scheduling of any child I/O task is not conditional on execution of the parent I/O task, and a state diagram regulates the child I/O tasks.

  • Publication number: 20140169634
Abstract: A method, system, and device for analyzing images captured by a vehicle-based camera includes establishing a communication connection between a mobile communication device and an in-vehicle computing system. Scanning data may be retrieved from a scanning data server by the mobile communication device and, in some embodiments, forwarded to the in-vehicle computing system. A vehicle-base camera may be used to capture one or more images. An image analysis module of the in-vehicle computing system or mobile communication device may be used to analyze the captured image(s) for a match between the image(s) and the scanning data. In response to identifying a match, the mobile communication device may notify the scanning data server of the identified match.

  • Publication number: 20140173672
Abstract: Different data communication architectures receive a wide variety of content, including audio and video content, for consumers. The architectures employ channel bonding to deliver more bandwidth than any single communication channel can carry. In some implementations, the communication architectures receive distributed video programming in the form of MPEG2 TS packets, flagged by marker packets. Channel bonding synchronization information may be present in packets defined above the data-link layer or received in fields within data-link layer frames.

  • Publication number: 20140166050
Abstract: Chucks for mounting and retaining semiconductor wafers during processing are described, particularly suited for wafer processing involving total immersion of the wafer-chuck structure in a liquid. Chuck structures are disclosed for preventing or hindering processing chemicals from contacting and contaminating large portions of the underside of the wafer undergoing processing, limiting such chemical contact to readily cleaned, relatively small annular regions on the periphery of the wafer. Embodiments include structures with supplemental gas flows on the underside of the wafer as well as the creation of gas/liquid meniscusci to prevent chemical penetration of the wafer's underside. Methods of processing semiconductor wafers employing such chucks are also described.

  • Patent number: 8754271
Abstract: Disclosed are processes for the production of fluorinated olefins, preferably adapted to commercialization of CF3CF?CH2 (1234yf). Three steps may be used in preferred embodiments in which a feedstock such as CCl2?CClCH2Cl is fluorinated to synthesize a compound such as CF3CCl?CH2. The CF3CCl?CH2 is preferably converted to CF3CFClCH3 (244-isomer) using a SbCl5 as the catalyst which is then transformed selectively to 1234yf. For the first step, a mixture of Cr2O3 and FeCl3/C is preferably used as the catalyst to achieve high selectivity to CF3CCl?CH2 (96%). In the second step, SbCl5/C is preferably used as the selective catalyst for transforming 1233xf to 244-isomer, CF3CFClCH3. The intermediates are preferably isolated and purified by distillation and used in the next step without further purification, preferably to a purity level of greater than about 95%.
