  • Patent number: 8619625
Abstract: An autonomous network has a plurality of autonomous terminals, equipped with at least one programmable transceiver, and which are embodied to independently identify frequency ranges provided for a communication link and used to reconfigure the programmable transceiver thereof. One or more technical system states of the network, with which a specific operation of the network is described, is defined. One or more sets of rules are defined for the autonomous terminal, one rule comprising authorized operational states and/or configurations of the autonomous terminals. The effects of the actual operation state and/or configurations of the autonomous terminals on the actual system state of the network is monitored. The sets of rules and/or definition of new rules, which comprise actual operational states or configurations of the autonomous terminals, is adapted when the actual system state of the network differs from the defined system state of the network.

  • Publication number: 20130335263
Abstract: A method determines a position of a vehicle. The method includes providing first raw position data from a satellite navigation system pertaining to the vehicle. At least one further vehicle is identified and a communication link is set up to the at least one further vehicle. Second raw position data of the satellite navigation system of the at least one further vehicle is received by way of the established communication link. The position of the vehicle is calculated by differential positioning based on the received second raw position data of the at least one further vehicle and on the first raw position data of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20120030524
Abstract: In a method of data processing within a controller ensuring that voting operations are reliably performed error free and in a corresponding controller unit, the input data are characteristic for the particular application where voting occurs. Voting whether or not the incoming data is correct involves a voting comparison method, a voting average method, and checking for a difference being within a certain range. The time dependent signature indicates correctly transmitted input data. Voting, based on the reviewed signature characteristics is an encoded operation. The time dependent signature indicates the data is coming from a correct source, has been a modification, and correct timing slides. Voting whether or not the incoming data is correct is performed in an encoded manner. A correct data is transmitted to be further used to actuate an actuator. The erroneous data is transmitted to be further sent to a fail safe guard.

  • Patent number: 8020061
Abstract: A respective agent platform in network elements and producer-specific agents that are installed directly on platform or by way of agent proxies of agent providers. The agents then receive raw information on arising operating errors by way of a defined interface of the agent platform, and, together with producer-specific information on the respective terminals or types of terminal that are known only to the respective producer, from corresponding compressed decision information for evaluating cases of error and/or for optimizing reconfiguration decisions. The agents then provide the information for the network element or the network operator and/or the agent provider or the terminal producer, via the defined interface. This leads to a higher reliability of the interoperability of terminals and network elements in mobile radio networks including reconfigurable terminals.

  • Patent number: 7975185
Abstract: According to the method for configuring an information system (1), components (2) are provided for the information system (1) and component-specific error susceptibility data (3) on the individual components (2). For a given system configuration (5), error susceptibility information (7) is determined for the information system (1) in this given system configuration (5) as a function of the component-specific error susceptibility data (3). The error susceptibility information (7) is evaluated with reference to given evaluation criteria (8). In a subsequent step, the information system (1) is configured in the given system configuration (5) if the error susceptibility information (7) satisfies the given evaluation criteria (8). By means of the method, it is achieved that only system configurations are accepted that satisfy requirements specified by the evaluation criteria (8) with respect to the reliability of the information system (1).

  • Patent number: 7770074
Abstract: A fault-tolerance management of a software component is disclosed. A number of instances of the software component are executed in at least somewhat different execution environments. A local error susceptibility register and a global error susceptibility register are assigned to each software component. An error of first instance of the software component is detected. The local error susceptibility register of the first instance is updated based on the detected error and the content of the local error susceptibility register of the first instance. The global error susceptibility register of each instance is also updated based on the detected error and the content of the global error susceptibility register of each instance. The difference between the respective local error susceptibility register and the respective global error susceptibility register is determined, and the fault tolerance value of the software component in the respective execution environment is determined based on the determined difference.

  • Publication number: 20080307531
Abstract: Access-protected memory zones in network elements are localized in an operator's network that supporting the reconfiguration of SDR terminals in combination with protected data transmission methods which include methods for authenticating and authorizing the communication partners and for communicating in a protected manner, especially to protect integrity and confidentiality. Such access-protected data is provided by the terminal and is transmitted to the radio access network in the framework of negotiations and is temporarily stored therein or is generated directly in the RAN in the framework of processes related to the terminal. The generation and management of access-protected memory zones by the network operator result in a massive relief of the load to which the air interface is subject while also significantly alleviating the network infrastructure with regard to signaling.
