  • Patent number: 9640344
Abstract: An apparatus for calibration and testing of pressure switches which are used in residential and commercial HVAC systems. The apparatus can be used to test, set, or adjust a pressure switch or a pressure signal transducer to the manufacturer's specifications. The apparatus includes an exterior housing with an on/off switch and at least one vacuum inlet nozzle, and the inside of the housing includes an air compressor to which the amount of voltage supplied can be manually controlled. The air compressor typically operates from a battery power supply located within the housing. A pressure measuring device, such as a differential pressure gage, and a conductivity indicator are typically used in conjunction with the device to calibrate adjustable pressure switches and to test and diagnose faulty pressure switches. The apparatus can include the pressure measuring device and/or the conductivity indicator within its housing.

  • Patent number: 9636785
Abstract: The invention described herein generally pertains to locking mechanisms for levers operable to mount a tractor unit to a guide track and to engage a drive gear of the tractor unit to a track gear of the guide track. The levers for mounting the tractor unit and/or to engage the drive gear are lockable in a closed position. The closed position relates to a state of the levers when the tractor unit is mounted on the guide track or when the drive gear is engaged with the track gear. The levers can be easily operable to mount/dismount or engage/disengage, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20170117838
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an induction motor are provided. In particular, data indicative of an alternating current voltage signal associated with an induction motor can be received. The alternating current voltage signal can be applied to the induction motor through a switching element coupled between a power source and the induction motor. A zero cross voltage signal can then be generated based at least in part on the data indicative of the alternating current voltage signal. A phase delay period for at least one half cycle period of the zero cross signal can then be determined. Operation of the induction motor can then be controlled by providing one or more control signals to the switching element causing the switching element to conduct current for one or more gating periods. Each gating period can be determined based at least in part on the phase delay period.

  • Publication number: 20170088997
Abstract: Systems and methods for predicting and preventing a cabinet strike event in a washing machine appliance are provided. An exemplary method includes ramping a target speed of a motor from a first speed to a second speed over a ramping period. The method includes computing an average deviation of an observed speed of the motor from the target speed over the ramping period. The method includes computing an average power consumption by the motor over the ramping period. The method includes determining whether both the average deviation is greater than a first threshold value and the average power consumption is greater than a second threshold value. The method includes rebalancing the load if both the average deviation is greater than a first threshold value and the average power consumption is greater than a second threshold value. The method includes performing one or more standard operations if both conditions are not satisfied.

  • Patent number: 9598903
Abstract: An apparatus for mounting an X-ray device or other electronic device, or a PAN disrupter or other mechanical device onto a ladder, the apparatus broadly comprising a horizontally extending mounting plate, a horizontally extending engagement bracket, a vertically extending mounting plate, and a hinge. The horizontally extending mounting bracket and the horizontally extending engagement bracket each include a rung engagement tab. The horizontally extending engagement bracket is slidable in relation to the horizontally extending mounting bracket for securing the apparatus to a ladder rung via the rung engagement tabs. The horizontally extending mounting plate stabilizes the electronic or mechanical device via the ladder rung and the vertically extending mounting plate supports the weight of the electronic or mechanical device on a lower ladder rung. The hinge pivotably connects the horizontally extending mounting plate and the vertically extending mounting plate.

  • Publication number: 20170073877
Abstract: A washing machine and a method for operating a washing machine appliance. After the user selects a wash cycle, the washing machine appliance may perform a load sensing routine, during which a standard water fill amount and standard agitation intensity are determined. The washing machine appliance includes a controller that receives a user input of a supplemental water fill amount and provides the tub with an amount of water equal to the standard water fill amount plus the supplemental water fill amount. The controller determines an increased agitation intensity based at least in part on the supplemental water fill amount and operates the motor in order to rotate an agitation element according to the increased agitation intensity. The present subject matter thereby enables a user to adjust the water fill amount while maintaining the agitation stroke intensity.

  • Publication number: 20160289173
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to devices and methods for crystallizing a compound. In certain industries, crystallization techniques require additional filtration steps in order to obtain products of relatively high yield and/or high purity. In some embodiments, the devices and methods described herein facilitate continuous production of high yield and/or high purity products without the need for additional filtration steps. In some embodiments, the devices and methods comprise flowing a fluid comprising a compound (e.g., a crystallizable compound, a solidifiable compound) over a substrate such that the compound crystallizes and/or precipitates on the substrate. In some embodiments, the crystallized compound can be recovered (e.g., at a high purity in solution). In certain embodiments, the substrate is orientated substantially vertically (e.g., such that flow of the fluid is driven by gravity). In some cases, the substrate comprises a plurality of crystallization promoting structures.

  • Publication number: 20160201245
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for monitoring current flow in an induction motor, particularly an induction motor associated with a washing machine and for controlling operation of the motor to limit thermals during operation of the motor. The subject matter provides for periodically stopping the motor and applying a phase limited alternating (AC) voltage to the motor that is of insufficient magnitude to start the motor rotating. A current reading is taken and converted using a look up table to a corresponding temperature. If the temperature exceeds a predetermined amount, temperature fold back procedures are initiated the may include shortening and/or pausing certain washer operations.
